VC is gone, pray for a decent raise at this point. Back in ‘08/‘09, a 2-3.5% raise in a non promotion year was a win.

Yes, however blocking breaks into my calendar and sticking to them has helped. While I’m more inclined to log on earlier, I’ll bang out a few things before going for a run @ 9am. I’ll also block 5-6pm for yoga and worked in some video calls just to BS with friends or coworkers.

Yes, but most of my time is spent on check ins and non chargeable work. Our managing tax partner doesn't understand why we're not charging as much and isn't lowering expectations.

Employee was terminated once employer learned of her bf being an ex-felon. I know we are an at-will state, but can a claim be filed about this? Is it me or does the newer generation value more intangible things that aren’t easily measured like work-life balance, fulfillment and purpose in work. Which makes it difficult for firms because that’s not something that is easily measured. Also, this is why there is “value” in crypto, NFTs and the metaverse. It’s a clash of the generations that value tangible things like money, houses, cars and one that values time, experiences, personal online image. Thoughts?

I am currently working in Deloitte but have signed a PwC offer. Just realized my current salary after the compensation release is $2k higher than PWC. Before I signed the offer, PWC told me the experienced associate salary can’t be negotiated. What should I do right now? It feels sad to see 2k leave me for no reason. KPMG reached out to me earlier this week and I’m interviewing for a tax position tomorrow morning. JD working on CPA. Working for a regional firm right now making $79k. I like it, but the benefits aren’t great.

Would anyone working in tax at KPMG recommend making the switch? What do your hours look like? Are you satisfied with the benefits?
