I was laid off during Deloitte‘s mass layoff in July of last year. I have worked as an independent contractor since and projects haven’t been consistent at the client I’m working for. I’m looking to get back into a big firm and was seeing if anyone would be able to refer me or help get my foot in the door. I was a business analyst for 1.5 years at Deloitte and have several years of additional experience which I’d be more than happy to share.

taking notes that will never been looked at again is the dumbest concept this industry has chosen to adopt. especially if it’s note taking for someone else senior. if you want notes so bad take them your damn self

I can’t take notes, I’m busy running the meeting. That’s why I pay you to take them.

I probably go through a legal pad every two weeks. Use it for notes, to do, brainstorming.

I never write anything down, and rarely even take notes into a computer. Largely memory. However, I live and die by my calendar - if it doesn't make it into there, I never do it.

Live and die by one note. I take rigorous notes in one note- tabs by project and by week, each meeting has it's own page. Has saved my rear more than once.

I'm also surprised so many people don't bother with notes of any kind. Don't you like knowing who made a decision? What day it was made? The rationale at the time? What the exactly list of follow ups was and who was at the meeting? Seriously having food notes is a lifesaver.
I can understand not taking notes once you’re a veteran with years of experience. But for newbies still unfamiliar with concepts about an industry or how companies operate, how does one actually retain all the nuance given the speed of which discussions happen

Taking detailed notes helps me pay attention
Bored, stressed, distracted. My mind wanders easily
I'm not a note taker either. I can't read my own handwriting
Chief
Same. And half of it would be what I think is cursive.
I take hand written notes on key points and any actions I have. This may be a generational thing…
Chief
Maybe. I grew up with computers so my handwritings always sucked
