Anybody else think staff are paid too much? No offense, but they are pretty useless for about 12-18 months. I think staff are paid too much, seniors and managers are paid too little...

Nope. Entry level finance jobs pay better and are significantly less miserable

The whole profession just pays way too little until partner.

If you want to under pay staff, good luck finding good people to work. Won't be any one sticking around until senior or manager

like

The same seniors who say staff are paid too much probably thought as a staff they were underpaid 🙄

like

If you're still useless after 18 months, you probably aren't cut out to work here. I expect the first 4-9 months to be slow, but that staff start pulling their weight after that. And do I think they're overpaid? No, but our interns certainly are.

like

We have to offer incoming staff a nice salary to suck them in and encourage them to drink the Kool-Aid. Once you've taken a drink of the Kool-Aid, they don't need to keep paying you as much.

like

@OP partners are paid too much? They're the ones taking all the risk. I don't see you going out and starting your own business. If you did you'd get the risk and rewards that come with ownership.

like

Yeah let's just eliminate the staffs and let the seniors do the staff and senior work. 🙄because if they cut down our salaries? Good luck finding ones that will stick around

like

Senior managers in years 1-2 are paid too little, high senior managers are paid about right, directors are paid about right, and partners are paid way too much!

like

Don't think of interns as workers. Think of the intern program as a marketing tool and in that regards it's cheap. You overpay interns, don't give them too much work, lots of free alcohol and a great trip to Disney? They'll tell all their friends, classmates, etc. It's all for branding. It's about having great visibility on campus, word of mouth testimony from someone who landed a "coveted" spot and interns making more than they they've ever made

I can't wait to get out, I sometimes forget not all jobs are structured like this

All of PA is underpaid stfu bruh

Partners have quotas to hit in terms of selling new business. If the firm has a lawsuit they're the ones at risk. Remember Arthur Andersen?

like

Audit Senior 1, same here. It's a shame we put ourselves in these conditions. I'm disappointed with the whole PA thing. Aiming for exit in the industry.

like

First years, yes. Being a first year is pretty easy it's just the CPA exam that made it difficult.

Seriously....😑

PA is soul crushing. Ruins your life

Is industry really that much better though ? I mean obviously hours are better but I feel like the work would be even more boring
