Anybody ever deal with Michael Page for recruiting? After speaking with one of their recruiters they send me a “candidate registration form” which asks me to fill out basic information but also (cont)

I think they’re laying the foundation to sue you later if you’re a journalist who’s using their services only to later write a piece destroying their reputation showing their inner workings. Or diss them to your future employer. It’s happened before in many, many industries...

They don't work for you. They work for firms. The firms pay the bill. Long after you find a new job, they're still working with the firms. They don't want you screwing up their relationships.

Requires me to sign a “declaration for recruitment services” which in part says that “I agree not to engage in any conduct which is detrimental to the interests of Michael Page, would negatively affect Michael pages relationship with its clients or is likely to bring Michael Page into disrepute.”

That’s broad language. Is signing a form like this from recruiters common? Should I tell the recruiter I’m not signing this?

I get why the send it. Is it common? Should I not sign it?

I've never had to sign something like that (worked with two recruiters) but I don't see the harm.

Never signed anything before when I’ve worked with recruiters, and I’ve used two separate recruiters for two different jobs

Never been asked to sign anything like that. Worked with three national recruiters.

Every morning I wake up at 5. This guarantees me 45 minutes of quiet time. This time is reserved for me, selfishly! It is used for me, selfishly! It looks different each morning.

• Some mornings I jog.
• Some mornings I start to jog, give up, & go eat a snack cake.
• Sometimes I read.
• Some days I sit in the shower & let the water hit my face like rain.
•Other mornings I selfishly make my wife coffee, & fold laundry.

The point is, the time is mine! When is your time? When do you make time?

My firm has started sending our law student law clerk to me for assignments and to help me with my assignments and such. I’ve never had this before, so I never know what to give the law clerk to do. Part of this is not wanting to give up the billables; part is not knowing what to give; and part is I’m the type that hates delegating my work because if I want it done right I’ll do it myself lol. Any tips on how to know what to delegate out to law clerks?

Took an in-house job with a small legal department for the flexibility; was 100% remote for the first few months bc of pandemic; they told me that after the pandemic it would be flexible and 2 days wfh… now they are indicating “more time in the office is better” and I am feeling barely veiled pressure to be 5 days a week in the office… how can I tactfully raise this with my boss? I took a pay cut and I’m starting to feel a little bait-and-switched. The work is awesome and the people are great.

Received an offer from Firm X but not in preferred location. Firm Y recently reached out to express interest in interviewing me and asked me to keep them in the loop of where I am in the process. Should I let firm Y know about the offer or would it back fire? If so, how to word it nicely? Am more interested in firm Y because of the location, but worried that with the processes being far apart in terms of timeline, I won't finish with Y's process before I'm set to respond on existing offer.
