I was paid around $1000-$2000/month TC when I was a sales associate at Circuit city. Definitely more than $200-300. It’s a fixed schedule but would not say it is a good gig though.
To be fair the $/hr rate is probably the same compared to consulting
Depends on your assigned customer base though... if there is a shock to your client’s ability to pay... you can be screwed. For example, back when I was in sales, I saw an entire sales team get fired because their customers had a geo political shock and sales went to 0...
Basically, it can be chill... but the other extreme is possible

Sales is a tough job. Yeah, there’s people making $300K doing 5 hours of work a week too, but that obscures the fact that quotas are usually set so that only 2/3 of employees meet quota each quarter.
Do you want to start from 0 every quarter? If you can get clients easily and bring in millions of dollars each quarter you might as well start your own firm.
I'm in a sales deal desk function. I make 280's, but work more than I did in consulting. However, I love my job.
Pick your poison. Like what you do, or work-life-balance. You can't have it both ways.
Just curious about what you like more in sales > consulting?

I did consulting and now in sales. It’s a slog and you have to be very motivated in the role in order to hit your quota. You basically have a target on your back and if you don’t bring in the large meaty deals your ass is out quick. Make sure you’re selling a relevant need to your customers. The sales ppl that are working only a few hours a week likely worked like crazy in the past to establish strong relationship with buyers/c-suite so the deals come to them now.
