Recently started a book about politics and the author argues that we (the educated, professional class) are to blame for polarization. Since we are well paid and generally unaffected regardless of who is in power, our positions on issues can be uncompromising. Furthermore, we don’t go out and really engage in campaigns. This is because we’d rather argue amongst ourselves from home. This leads to vacuums where bad actors can take up the mantle of leadership. What do you think about that?

TIL: Just attended the kickoff session of a Flexibility and Predictability committee for a multi-project account. They mentioned that Booz and McKinsey exclude PTO from utilization calculation.

After reading all the articles about how my gen will never afford a home, I thought I’d still be able to after reaching 200k+ income. But now all these homes are going for 50% above asking and in cash, not sure what to do.

1.5 YOE coming up on promotion from associate to consultant. I plan on waiting for the promotion and then possibly exiting to industry. I work on supply chain ERP implementations. Mostly healthcare but have also been in a few other industries. What are the possible roles for exit opportunities that make the most sense? Looking for a less demanding career to settle down and start a family, without sacrificing salary. Any advice is welcomed, thanks!

Performance Reviews - what are your thoughts on annual performance reviews? Have you all seen a really creative, effective, yet fast process that is not cumbersome or time consuming, and complements existing feedback channels, etc.? Told a friend of mine in tech I was considering moving to BCG. He asked me if I would have to move to Boston.

I followed up by asking what he thought the top consulting firms were. "I'd guess PwC and then McKinsey are the best. I've also heard of KPMG, Deloitte, and Bain, but I don't know much about them."
