Anybody have a bilateral Salpingectomy relatively recently? With all the banning abortions going on, I would like to take charge of my body while I can. I have it scheduled at the end of this month but am having cold feet. How is recovering? I wasn’t planning on taking any time off work (it’s scheduled on Friday). I work from home at my computer. Saw something mentioned about a catheter?!

I had it last October. Easy breezy. Seriously, a laser facial was more painful that the surgery. ZERO pain. The day of the surgery after I was discharged, I was walking around my apartment, no problem. Even got on my laptop to get work done. It was THE BEST thing I have done for myself. It freed me from the prison of my body and the bigotry and oppression of politics. Got off birth control that month, boobs got slighter bigger. Talking about a nice fringe benefit.

Same here! I took time off but honestly didn’t need it. Only took the meds they gave me once. Didn’t even deal with any bleeding post surgery. I stayed on birth control for my PMDD, but considering giving it the boot

I got it done last September. Greatest decision of my life. Recovery for me was not great though. I have hyper mobility and scoliosis and they put my arms and shoulders in a weird position and it caused pretty extreme pain for a week. They also fill your abdomen with gas during the procedure and some of it got stuck under my diaphragm and that was really painful. I also got my IUD out when I was under and was a little sore from that. Despite all of that, I am so glad I did it. Sex is a lot better without the IUD. My periods are pretty light and my skin is much clearer too.

Yes! I had this done last year! Best decision of my life! I also had my uterine walls ablated at the same time and now I don’t even know when I have my period. Absolutely incredible! The double sal was done laparoscopically, so I just have 3 small scars, one of which is inside my belly button. I didn’t need a catheter at all. I was back at work 2 days later. I was a little sore for about a week, but I didn’t even need pain meds. It was easier than period cramps.

I see. Thanks for clarifying

Yep. October last year. Best decision of my life. Feel free to PM me with any questions, I'll be as detailed as you want.

Also saw your comment above -- a bisalp has nothing whatsoever to do with hormones and won't impact sex drive (well, sex feels safer because I know I can't get pregnant, but that's not a physical thing).

like

I didn't stop taking my hormonal BC -- it helps prevent migraines for me, among other things -- but yes definitely if you stop your body will need time to adjust.

My procedure was textbook and recovery was fine. I went in for it on a Thursday, took Friday off, and was back to working from my bed on Monday morning. I had all the usual things on hand you might need post op (heating pad and stool softener and sore throat drops and UTI meds) but didn't end up needing anything after the first day. I also never filled the heavy painkiller prescription and just took the extra-strength Tylenol after the hospital drugs wore off.

If you want a very frank description of the actual details of a bisalp I'm happy to send that privately. Not everyone wants to know.

Update: got it done yesterday. I’m already at only like 2 out of 10 on pain scale. Very happy I got it done!! Thank you all for your encouragement and sharing your stories.

like

Junior Developer, they probably had other hormonal issues before the surgery. I actually lost a little weight

Had it done in September and was back to work (remotely) the following day. Done laparoscopically and no complications or catheter.

Where do you live? I do support you taking things into your own hands but also wondering to what extent where you are in the country affects all this.

Because I might not remain in CO. And Trump is not trustworthy if he gets back into office. He may ban it entirely.

Not bilateral but I had a single salpingectomy, though it was several years ago in ‘15 or so. It was not voluntary so maybe I’m remembering the emotional toll…For me it was pretty bad pain that night after the surgery and over a few days but if you’re working from home you might be ok.

like

Oh and no catheter!

like

I had it done as part of a partial hysterectomy. No catheter even with that procedure. One thing I wished my doctor had told me was there is a fairly high risk of going into early menopause with a bilateral salpingectomy, and it happened to me. Just something to keep in mind. Early menopause sounds kind of nice in theory but it sucks!

like

It does suck SC. Uhhhhh. The struggle is real.

Chew gum after your procedure. It helps your body move things along after post op.

You really should take at least a day off because everyone heals at their own rate and everyone experiences pain differently.

Did you get it done, OP?

You will Not regret it. Best medical decision I ever made. My anxiety over my physical autonomy went completely away after it

How do we strike a balance between recruiting the summer associates for the firm and being truthful about how awful this job is? I’m pretty good at putting on a front (hence being chosen to be a mentor), but I feel super guilty about not being 100% honest with my mentee. She says that everyone seems to have much more balanced lives than she expected and big law must not be as bad as she’s heard, and I try to respond positively but somewhat truthfully. But really I’m close to a mental breakdown..

Our annual reviews are approaching & one of my direct reports has been with us for almost six years w/ little growth. My reco was to let him go & find a stronger, hungrier & more motivated designer at the same level. However, my boss instead wants us to promote him in hopes that will spark some motivation. I am not behind this decision & have voiced my multitude of concerns in promoting an employee who doesn't deserve it. HR is behind the decision! Thoughts on promoting an undeserving report?

It’s been a month that HR told me that they’ll release offer, but it seems that approval is still in progress, is it normal?

Hello fishes,

Can anyone help me with Infosys payslip.
I joined Infosys with a CTC of 24lpa (15% variable)
Today i received my first month salary and it is only 1.06 lakh.
I am feeling low only as in my previous organisation my CTC was 13.5 lpa and i used to receive 97k including tax.
The CTS has been increased to 10.5 lakh but in-hand is only 9k.

I had to run some morning errands last week and I was struck by the morose expressions on parents' faces as they waited in school lines for drop off.

I spend my mornings gardening, tending my house, playing with my cats, reading, learning new hobbies or just being. Talked to my mom about how we take for granted not having to drag a kid/grandkid to school every morning and how much of the day it eats up.
