Hi all! Will any kind fish be willing to read my resume and give me feedback? I’ve been applying to different position but haven’t had any luck. Someone mentioned it is too specialized but I would love that a new set of eyes could read it to make it more appealing to consulting recruiters. Would really appreciate it :)
I joined B4 after college in 2019 and ever since working as QA, mainly manual/ functional testing. Can't see any progress work wise in same projects/teams. Before job, I wasn't a complete nerd but I did have some sense of programming so I wish to use that in my real life work in future. Can someone suggest how should I use my spare time so as to not be stuck in manual testing or testing itself? I'm somewhat lost when thinking of career progression after maybe next 5 years.
Any mid-level copywriters looking for work? We had another writer leave and are looking to fill the position. It's a small shop with incredible creative leadership and fun food accounts. Trust me, you’ll get a lot of opportunities and have a blast. PM a link to your book and I'll tell you more.
Working as an audit staff in big 4 shared service centre. It's been 2 years. I really don't like what I do there, also it seems I won't like what I'll be doing there even after becoming senior. Thinking of leaving and joining industry once ACCA qualified. (One more paper left). But people around me discourage that growth potential and earnings in industry are way less compared to public accounting. I know that too but I still want to leave. I'd like to stick to core accounting. Thoughts pls
Hi Tax Bowlers, I'm an experienced associate (2yrs) in a Big 4 Transfer Pricing division. I have reached a point in my career where I am considering taking up a professional certification. Several colleagues recommended taking up either ACCA or CFA, however, I see little connection between these certifications and the work that I am currently doing, and what I plan to do in the future. What would you guys suggest? Would it be detrimental to my career if I did not take up any certifications?
Is it normal for teams to lose it on each other on a regular basis? I’m fairly new to the B4 and never experienced it at former firms. It starts at the top and it’s starting to take a toll on my performance. Not sure if I need to suck it up and deal with it or start thinking about changing teams. TIA
I’m a manager at EY. And I am THIS CLOSE to responding to that LinkedIn recruiter and just getting another job. Years of Big 4 life is killing me slowly...
I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy. I was laid off in April due to Covid related business losses. I still haven’t found a position. Is this normal? I declined an in-house offer last month but am beginning to get a little panicked. Thoughts?
How realistic is the jump from Big 4 FDD to IB. Can you expect to jump to a MM/BB or would you be stuck with boutiques?
Currently considering offers from 2 big 4 firms for entry level audit opportunities. I’m a bit concerned about the burn out that everybody’s talking about in PA. Any advice on how to avoid it or at least minimize the effects?

Wanted to get thoughts on if there was a service line in the Big 4 world that has a work/life balance that doesn't exceed 45 hours of work per week? Or is that blasphemy?
What is expected compensation for a 3rd year Director in New York in Accounting Advisory across Big 4?
Genuine question: What are the most common exit options at Google BizOps? (1) For internal transfer to PM, those teams seem to prefer to hire Google engineers. (2) For internal transfer to Chief of Staff, why those teams don’t promote their own Strategy & Op folks? (3) For BizOps internal promotion, there are not many Director positions. (4) For leaving Google, I don’t know where people usually go… Please share your thoughts / correct me if I’m wrong. Thanks!
What salary should I target moving to industry? I have no idea what is reasonable. I’m in a HCOL area, senior with 3 years of experience. Currently making 100k in public.
Is it possible to claim phone expense if you are in a group plan? I have paid my share of the bill through Amex but the cumulative bill is not in my name as I am not the account owner. Would this work?
Is there anyone not phased by job titles and seniority? Don’t get me wrong, I have respect for people in senior roles (whether it’s at my firm or my client) and have a high enough EQ to work with people across all levels. But, I find it amusing when I see people assume others higher up than them are better and so you should treat them special.
This might be a silly question, but I’m joining a local project and want to get a notebook. How do I ask my project for one?
How do you compare offers with Equity RSUs vs. typical bonus structure? My first time interviewing with a company that offers RSUs. Which of these offers would be better? 1. 130k base + 20% bonus 2. 125k base + 56-75k RSU over 4 year period
Recent grad trying to break into art directing. I can’t afford portfolio school so I’m resorting to creating a “homemade” portfolio book. I have the graphic design skills, and I am willing to invest a few thousand into creating my book. What advice and resources would you recommend for this endeavor?

Hello all, I’m currently in the interview process with EY. I’ve already had my interviews and the next step would be an offer letter or rejection. I reached out to the recruiter a week after my final interviews, and they responded saying this “I am awaiting next steps from the hiring partner at this point.” Can someone expound on what that could mean? Is that a positive sign of receiving an offer?
Hi fish fam. Outside of 401k/IRA/Roth/Trading/Real Estate, are there are any investment options that yield a ~7-10% annual return? Looking to make more than the 2% banks/fixed deposits give. Thanks!
