Terrific! You just have to make sure you abide by the Principles. Amazing place to work.

I’ve heard they do personality tests, are very public about your performance and share these ratings with other employees. They also use scorecards to evaluate yourself and others.

Great firm. Crazy crazy culture that truly isn’t for everyone. Very very high dropout rates in first 12-24 months due to crazy culture. Most of those folks who leave will say “don’t do it, ever, the risk is way too high”. I’ve seen dozens of people cycle through, some did well, others did not land well.

Thanks @Bain, MCK. I have the same polarizing thoughts, plus the burden of potentially doing the reverse commute to Westport. OW - best of luck if you choose to pursue it!

What kind of role? I’m considering it.

And a lot of young inexperienced culture carriers who are now, after a few years with BW as their first job, having been grown in that culture, literally unemployable anywhere else, and who may make your life hell. (Or not).

^ I’ve heard a lot along the lines of McK1 said. If that’s your cup of tea, go for it - but be thoughtful about your decision if not. Perspectives are polarizing so don’t assume that you’ll adjust - you either are or you aren’t, from what I’ve heard.

Read Ray Dalio’s book Principles. You should get a sense from that book.

If you like and feel comfortable with the culture, could be a good place to work. If not, would not advise.

@OW: Investment Engineer or Client Research Associate, not sure which one I’ll go for, if any

Is the culture really as toxic? I got a sense they it was a bit like a cult, but all companies have their quirks.

Thinking about investment engineer or investment associate.

Uncle works there I can give ya a reference

My firm’s IT (especially system saving and file locating function) is so bad 😐😞 and they keep doing updates no one asked them for just to mess with the stuff we already got a hang of without doing anything about the issues we actually need fixed. Anyone else in a similar boat? Do you bill the client for the time it takes to fix the IT issue (or IT inefficiency generally, like time taken to find a file in a convoluted system)? Or is that supposed to be our non-billable time?

I don’t understand how some men doing well in their consulting jobs seem socially inept particularly when it comes to dating/relationships. I assume that someone with ‘client hands’ would know how to communicate with and handle a woman he likes. And I’m talking about fully grown men (30+).. Am I wrong to assume this?

Just booked a stay for February for them and read the following “Hotel rewards e-certificates can only be requested by a Marriott Rewards member for a reservation in that member's own name. What’s a good strategy to deal with freeloaders who are peers? For example, how to respond to their emails in which they assign task to other team members when that is his/her task? They make it sound that as if they are delegating fairly. That person has a less workload and the project director is not involved much. Any tips would be appreciated.
