What type of customer? What type of qual? What’s the ultimate objective of the research? Besides the contextual questions related to the above answers, I like to pepper in things like “describe the perfect Saturday” or “tell me about a really happy memory (eating this product, being in the space, etc. as per your context)?” I find these kind of questions make the whole thing feel less research-y for the respondent (which is important so they open up) and also gives me insight into what makes them happy... sometimes there are patterns and again, depending on my objective, this can be invaluable.
