How do you focus on work when one of your parents is sick?

Imigration status is on almost every job application. Some people have told me that if you need a visa just put NO so that you are not automatically disqualified and then explain your situation later if you make it to the offer stage. Thoughts on this strategy? Haven't tried it, but thinking about using it.

I work as an ML Engineer with YoE<1, I basically spend my day writing production level code (read MlOps) for data science products.

I am involved in the pure Data Science aspects as well e.g. coming up with the algorithms and pitching novelties and all.
I want to shift to pure Data Science. The reason they picked me cuz I was good in coding and I didn't have any better offers and the time of joining. I have a bachelor's in stats and masters in data science. Any suggestions?

I am currently in a “data-centric” role, as in I do a lot of SQL writing, unwinding python/php/java code to understand how systems work, and proposing solutions to either automate processes or eliminate redundancies.

If you were to do it all over, what is the most efficient way to become a “master” at case interviewing? Read each MBA program’s consulting club’s case books? Then practice? If yes, is there any specific order/sequence of case types to prepare for?

Best business-oriented, but novel-style books with good writing, style, & interesting characters? Not really self-help/advise focused, more of actual literature with business themes/plots. Any recs?

Anyone else on a “high priority” project with great visibility but feel zero gratification because my senior is a slide maniac?
