Anybody heard of stories of lawyers who went into banking but later regretted? One of my coworkers made the transition to investment banking recently and it’s making me itchy and wanting to the same. But I also don’t have any clue what life will be like in investment banking.

Did you go to a feeder school? It’s hard to make the jump unless you had stellar credentials in COLLEGE.

P1 i dont understand the correlation

If you aren’t good at math / excel (most lawyers aren’t) it seems like it will be an uphill battle to thrive once you’ve landed that initial banking job.

Your peers will often have top tier MBAs or undergrad finance / Econ / Math degrees from elite undergrads, while lawyers in the T14 frequently majored in humanities at undergraduate schools that range from elite down to “never heard of that school in my life.”

Also, it seems like the elite finance track is to do IB analyst out of undergrad for 12-24 months and then jump to Megafund PE or VC. “Associates” and above in IB are looked down upon by their PE/VC/buyside peers. My understanding is attorneys who switch to IB usually come in at the Associate level.

3 tips I always give to first-time home sellers that make my work easier:

1. Try professional photos. You have one chance to impress possible buyers. Use it wisely.
2. Be flexible with home showings. Maybe your possible buyers won't appreciate your house's potential if there are dogs running around or too many people inside.
3. Respond promptly to a purchase offer. Some people don't have much time to wait for an answer. Be quick and responsive!

Hello all,
I have been selected as a Technical Consultant for PWC India On-campus and they have mentioned that Internship starts from January, but there is not particular mention about a Internship Offer letter. I’m feeling guilty for feeling burnt out. I’m a second year in a quasi-lit role and my hours are not that bad (well below 2000), but I am exhausted by work and wracked with anxiety all the time. I feel terrible complaining because my peers bill so much more than me. I do incident response and my hours are unpredictable, so maybe that’s it, but I don’t know. Even when it’s slow I feel terrible. I worked for years before law school and didn’t feel this way. Is anyone else in the same boat?

Anyone else change firms and realize the health insurance at their new place sucks?
I switched from one big law firm to another, but in different states. Reviewed benefits before taking job and it was normal medical plus CVS Caremark for prescriptions (but the benefits package also had a breakdown of $10/$15/$30 or 50 copays of prescriptions so it seemed like medical covered those too?). So a medication I have been prescribed for years and always filled at CVS is now $300/month.
