Anybody here at Guidehouse? What's the culture like?

The pay is higher but the hours are worse than what I worked at Deloitte - so it feels like no pay increase. Your experience will depend on the client. Hardwork is recognized and promoted. Social events prior to covid were not as great at Deloitte social events. If you want experience leading and gaining new skills, GH can provide because a lot of the work is new. I found leadership opportunities limited at Deloitte but I know that depends on the project.

Commercial or public sector? I was in commercial healthcare and I know no less than 4 other Black folks who left in a year, incl myself

Your experience will depend on many different variables. The firm is relatively new- spun off from PwC and then acquired Navigant. There’s the public sector and we also have commercial. So, we don’t have a cohesive culture. I have been able to work on commercial and public sector projects. Pros- - I find most people to be pleasant and easy to work with. - I have good work life balance. - Leadership seems committed to improving the firm. - I’m happy with my compensation. Cons- - There’s a bit of chaos and confusion. A lot of people including myself don’t know how to get promoted. The performance management system has changed maybe three times and I’ve only been at the firm 1.5 years. I know hard working people that aren’t getting promoted and that appear to be performing well. I think it’s easy to slip through the cracks. Again, it could be dependent on the project. - Public sector work is boring. It’s not truly consulting. It’s a lot of admin work. Sometimes it can be process improvement or change management. Just be very clear about what your individual project will require and what you will get staffed to. Overall, I want to leave and I know a good bit of people who have left. But, I think this is how consulting works. I’m actively looking for other places to work. Guidehouse is not a bad place at all, it’s just not my cup of tea. I’d advise you to poke around in the Guidehouse bowl and the Guidehouse+Navigant bowl just to see what ppl are saying.

Ive heard general bad things but I didn’t accept the offer so I can’t give specifics.

I have no intel on Guidehouse specifically but in general I’ve only heard bad things about Public Sector Consulting.

I don’t mind it. More frustrating client (govt) and less $ but more work life balance and job security

I am currently a fund accountant and am thinking about jumping ship to a new firm. I’m at a small fund and although the culture and WLB are great, I can see that there is no opening for assistant controller coming any time soon. Is it a bad if I consider looking elsewhere when I’ve only been there for a year? I hear it’s a strong market for candidates so I don’t want to miss out on a potential better opportunity for my career. Greatly appreciate any input.

Geniuses can you please share some ideas/creative ways to track the following.. Case: have around 25 companies and associated info. Part of that info includes company contact point info (name, email) each company may have 1-8 contacts. Contacts change frequently. Ideally I’d like my columns to be |comp name | contact name| contact email |etc, but the issue is I need to track when people leave a company, can’t delete the data. Rn I have 1 sheet holding comp info, another, contact info.
