I was laid off during Deloitte‘s mass layoff in July of last year. I have worked as an independent contractor since and projects haven’t been consistent at the client I’m working for. I’m looking to get back into a big firm and was seeing if anyone would be able to refer me or help get my foot in the door. I was a business analyst for 1.5 years at Deloitte and have several years of additional experience which I’d be more than happy to share.

Wasn’t great at math really struggled. I needed someone to sit down and work through it with me which didn’t happen. Somehow became an accountant.
Thanks dad
Only time I did well in math in elementary/junior high school was during 7-8th grade. Hated stats when I was in high school. Dropped it on the first day because it felt too hard and instead took Calc BC (which I ended up finding easier).
Nearly failed all my calc classes in college, finally passed and enjoyed a Stats class in College and in grad school. Sometimes how they present it makes the difference.
And now I’ve been in analytics for 6+ years.

Yes. Result: I do communications, not math!

American math? Nah
Actual math like calculus? Sure

I said like calculus. I didn't name every single difficult math class. And most Americans stop at algebra.
I honestly forgot about this until a while ago. Had summer school in kindergarten and in sixth grade I had to take two math classes at the same time to get myself up to speed. Was a very average student in high school, attended an average state school. Later found my spark and went to the top grad school for my field. Determination trumps inherent ability. I live by this. You can do literally anything you put your mind to. Also, I try to limit interviews with mental math problems and always round to the most friendly numbers.
Yes and now I’m a Deloitte consultant. Wish I got a math tutor.

I only got a 720 on my math SAT. I’m Asian too. 😭

I was just average with times tables and such in elementary and then was better at advanced math. Still count on my fingers which is great as a technical mathy consultant 😂

Didn’t have difficulty, but once I got to calculus I couldn’t ever picture myself in any sort of long-term role that would require that kind of math knowledge. Algebra and geometry are super-useful in everyday life; calculus, not so much.

I was so good at math in school that I perfect scored the math section on standardized tests and routinely set the curve on university exams.
I got CTL'd in my first year at McK and am unemployed.
