Airplane?
@MD1 I think you mean Aeroplane!
Yeah defo not the lunch booze culture, and I did find that people don't often follow through on social things. What I mean is you'll arrange to meet up and do something after work, and it never happens
You'll probably make friends with other brit expats, there are plenty in NY and LA
Well good luck with the green card, it will take forever unless you get married...
And btw OP, its hard! Fun but hard! Also depends where you're looking to head...
Would either be SF or NY. How was the difference in culture? London is very booze/lunch heavy. I can imagine it's lesser out there.
^Yeah, Americans aren't very social
I was thinking they were social in ways other than drinking 8 pints with lunch haha!
Hmm. That's a shame. At present my client is a top 3 in billings Europe so social things are multiple times a week. I'd be willing to leave it all behind if it meant more money and more responsibility though.
The making friends part isn't my worry - I've always been able to do that and my girlfriend has experience living in both cities as she is from DC originally and works in tech. Only hurdle is getting the green card. It's either being sponsored or getting married - and I am too junior to get sponsored realistically.
Lol we actually have a pretty decent number of events. Lunch boozing is a bit more rare but there's other stuff and if your young and comfortable enough to move to another city go for it! NY is a great place to live!
