Anybody never think about retirement? In my head I’m gonna work until I die (from home, obviously). I’ve been on short term disability a few times and I was so bored out of my mind. Couldn’t imagine just not working at all. Also might be due to the fact I barely do any work now and think it would be sustainable forever

I’m ready to retire and I’m 25

I'd rather be retired and depressed than working and depressed

Fair enough. I have nothing else going on. I’m also inherently lazy but I don’t have any passions.

It's not about not working. It's about have the financial freedom to choose the work I'd like to do.

I’d retire right now if I could.

I’d like to go part time at 55 and never retire

I can't imagine retiring in the traditional sense where you turn 65, have a retirement party, and never work a day again. That feels like a thing of the past to me. If I have the financial means to do it, I'd like to 'retire' from the corporate world around 55 and move into a second career in a business school setting. My alma mater had executives-in-residence who did career coaching and some light teaching, which would be pretty appealing to me.

This is my mindset as well. Add a few properties for some additional income and not worry about money at all. The focus would be how to help the next generation.

Everyday I am trying to find a short and easy way to never work again.

I've been planning my retirement since the day i started working! Not so much to stay home and do nothing but rather to have the freedom to take gigs I want when i want or change fields entirely or open a cafe or travel! Retirement is freedom to do whatever you want my friend!

we think alike. it’s not so much that i’ll be slogging out 80hr weeks til I die but more so that I’ll always be doing something to keep myself sharp and getting out of bed. doesn’t mean i don’t save for retirement, but I believe that if you just sit around you just die sooner cuz there’s no real point to go on

Depends on your definition of retirement.

if you aren't investing 15-20% of your paycheck into the 401k, the answer is: you won't

I mean, good.

Question: The company that you are working for offers cloud managed services and has been approached by a potential client. What are some areas (or red flags) you would consider before responding to their RFP? ( I started putting together a response but would love to get your insights) Answer: 1) Understanding of current annual spending vs spending if they adopted our cloud services 2) Clients expected growth rate 3) Regulatory requirements depending on industry (medical, fed etc)

Seeking financial/relationship advice: Long term girlfriend is in medical school while I’m a well-paid consultant. I am building savings meanwhile she has no income and will probably graduate with $200k in student debt. My husband and I get along great on the weekends - we are amazing cohosts, we love to go out together, we find eachother compelling and charming. We also do well in “emergencies” - when one of us is sick or we a specific tough issues. But it feels like every weeknight is a tense and unpleasant chore of “who will make this decision about dinner/tv/how much time we should spend together in the evening vs doing our own thing” and I just feel like I can’t stand him only to be in love again Friday…

I took my first sick day at my new job. I am back today now some people are barely talking to me. Barely anyone asked if I am doing better. I find it a bit strange. I'm not expecting much but not even a fake pretend to care that I am doing better. My other jobs were not like this. This is more a vent than anything.

Hi all, Need your advice. One of our worker’s wife is fighting cancer. We know that he needs to take care of her and work the same time to cover medical bills. So we decided to collect money for him. Should I do it secretly and only let him know after I’m done collecting money or should I get his permission first? I need to figure out which way would be less uncomfortable for him. Thanks!

Recently lateralled to a new firm and I have mild “PTSD” from my old firm 😶 everything from the way docs are saved on the system, file naming, email writing style, team conventions etc - I keep thinking any small mistake would get me yelled at / be at the receiving end of snarky or passive aggressive emails but people at my new firm are so lovely and far from that. I’m trying really hard to move past this and my new colleagues are probably getting sick of my questions 😂 Anyone else can relate?

Got notified that my EAD card is being delivered to my place. Didn’t submit my medical record with I-485 so I’m hoping to receive the RFE for that soon now that EAD is almost here. Has anyone been in the similar situation and did the medical exam before receiving the RFE? Is that allowed? Wanna try to mail out my medical exam as soon as I receive the RFE to cut down time!

FTM - I’m just curious on how some of your maternity leave is set up. I received short term disability pay for 6 weeks and then paid from my job for 6 - they offered additional bonding time, but unpaid. The paid portion came from my “sick time.” I wasn’t sick, I was caring for and bonding with my son. That’s been bothering me since I returned. Now I don’t have any sick leave and any last minute time that I need to take is unpaid. Other countries give moms the entire year, 100% paid 🥴
