I think her professor husband was there, who is currently on leave and supposed to be no contact with students because of the results of the Title IX investigation. Still a bit murky but slightly changes the narrative.

Oh and to add on — Amy and Jed would black ball students who either didn’t participate or spoke up against the pattern of behavior.

From everything I’ve read about her, I can’t say I’m a major fan of hers, but these stories just confirm that Yale’s administration and a decent number of its students are loons.

Speaking of treating law students as children, my law school tried to cut down on drunken shenanigans at our law prom by getting rid of the open bar and requiring students to buy drink tickets in advance. My cool friends and I just made a bunch of counterfeit drink tickets and got blacked out drunk anyway. For what they charged as tuition, every event should be an open bar event.

My law school never had an open bar at our law prom or any free drinks at all so count your blessings lol

This isn’t about the *gasp* alcohol *gasp* it’s more about the investigation into her husband. Moreover, Chua has a checkered history of possibly advising potential clerks how to dress for their interviews with Kavanagh while he was on the DC Circuit.

But yes, somehow YLS administration is coddling their students.

There’s a reason the law school specifically prohibited Chua from socializing with students…

Chua had a confidential agreement with the Yale admin not to privately interact with students AS A CONDITION of her husband Jed Rubenfeld’s two-year suspension for sexual harassment.

The tiger mom should do a better job of keeping her husband from sexually harassing her students.

Vandy law school when I was there had a weekly, school sponsored social gathering with alcohol. Blackacre every Friday.

As did Yale Law when I was there. That’s not the issue here.

Isn’t Amy Chua the author of Tiger Mom and Day of Empire? I would love to have drinks at her house!

Went to a work event tonight. Wore a fun outfit, put waves in my hair, and applied makeup. I had a great time but I didn’t feel comfortable in my skin. Felt like the lines I developed during covid are definitely more pronounced and for the first time in a long time, I felt like I looked my age. I’m 42 and have ok skin, just sometimes uneven tone/red. Help. I want to throw away my makeup and start new. Any recommendations? My first thought is to trot into Bare Minerals and have them help me.

Like many people, I have been experiencing a roller coaster of anxiety in recent months. I’ve gotten it more under control by cutting down on the news I watch, and trying to not think about work after I shut down my computer. I have a dear friend who is also dealing with anxiety. When we talk, the discussion is always about how anxious she is about COVID, Civil Unrest, etc. And she wants to talk about work which I’m trying not to do as much. How to be a good friend and keep from spiraling?

Has COVID affected your friendship (especially if you are an introvert)? I’m kind of an extreme introvert and has completely isolated myself from my core group of friends. Dynamics of our friendship has completely shifted in the last three month and I feel like I’m on the outskirts looking in which really sucks. Not sure what I’m trying to achieve with this post but I wanted to get this off my chest cause I’m feeling a bit down. Also making amends that I also have to put in the effort...

Hello,

I am a 3rd year insurance defense attorney with product and premise liability experience. Due to long-COVID, I am likely to lose my job.

The plan is to find a government position that would involve more substantive litigation and trial work, then leverage that into the private sector a few years down the line.

Any advice would be appreciated regarding networking, where to start, etc. Thank you.

Is this legal?
My partner and I are moving out of our condo building in NYC at month end, and the building management (not our landlord) has communicated to us that, on top of the 1K non-refundable fee and 1K security deposit to move out (stated in lease), they are also issuing a $1,250 "sanitization fee" for the public areas (hallways/elevators), since we happen to be moving out during COVID19. We feel this is taking advantage of tenants during this time and may not be legal. Any advice helps!
