Anybody tempted by (rumored) six-figure signing bonuses, special bonuses, and full-time remote work being offered by BigLaw firms? Wait you’re in house? I thought no one ever goes back to the law firm mill???

Can confirm. Been there, done that, work the same hours for less pay.

Never...After 14 years (including several as partner), there isn’t enough money in the world that could ever convince me to trade the appreciation and autonomy at my company for BigLaw misery again.

They can’t pay you in time. Some things are more important than money, IMO.

Not. At. All. You can find that in an in-house role if you look at F500 companies in a large major city. No way I’d ever do BigLaw. Ever. The hours aren’t worth the cash they’re throwing at you in BigLaw. But do what’s best for you. G’luck!

Trying my best to get out. It tells you something when they need to pay 6 figures in bonus on top of 6 figures to retain enough people after we had time to think about what’s important to us in a pandemic.

My MIL has made remarks to my husband that she doesn’t understand why we need a nanny for our infant since I am able to WFH (I’m a biglaw associate). She also doesn’t get why we have a cleaner and dog walker and seems to imply we’re wasting our money by outsourcing funds on things we can do. She was a SAHM so I guess I understand why she feels that way, but how do I explain to her why these things are necessary? I actually love my MIL but this is driving me nuts.

What are the implications if I work for a US company from another country? Currently hired and employed out of the US. I told my job I want to do a remote year but didn’t specify where I would be located. I’ve already purchased my flight and leave at the end of December. Also going to this other country for Grad school as it is cheaper than the US. Didn’t mention that to my employer either.
