Anybody else think next year is going to be worse for layoffs than this year? A lot of clients are setting up their 2021 budgets and allocating very little for capital projects. Seems like next year will be extremely light since customers aren’t spending as much. Hence more layoffs in consulting.

Yes budgets are being slashed for FY21. Demand is very soft. The number of net new clients even just “kicking the tires” has dropped off dramatically. It’s going to get worse before it gets better.

Yes, think so. IT & Consulting are trailing industry sectors. Ripple effects take awhile before it hits these industries.

Yes. My role was supposed to go till Dec, but ending on Sept 30. My firm has other projects, but it looks like my client which is a large bank, is being conservative.

This happened post 2008 as well.

This is likely to be more significant overall because it is more uncertain. Some companies and areas though will need support to expand to meet new demand and changing value chains.

Time to go 😑

May be a good time to go to business school.

I was fired last month after a short time at the company. I knew things weren't going well- it was a terrible culture fit & I was also planning my exit strategy. They wouldn't give me specific reasons other than to vaguely say it was performance related. I agree I made a few dumb mistakes (none of any dire consequence) but what kills me is that I tried really hard. I don't want to change careers but I have a deep seeded fear that no matter how hard I try, I will never be a "good attorney".

Looking for respectful ways to manage helping people in need of a job or seeking mentorship. I get 3-4 requests a week from mutual contacts asking if I can connect with a former colleague (always broad). Typically the ask is a 30-45 min call. I’ve been laid off, I know how hard a time it is, but equally am working long hours, parenting and want to reserve time for those I know. How do others manage these extra calls into their weeks?

Was laid off in Sept. Unfortunately we will be seeing many more coming. It's what happens in a recession. Unfortunately I now also have my age against me. Not in a mentally good place at the moment.

Anyone know if all the layoffs have been completed/announced yet? Honestly, I love my job and there's nowhere else I'd rather work. Want to know if I can exhale yet.

Has coforge fired any employees in 2022?

Does anyone know what industries / competencies got hit by the layoffs yesterday? A few people mentioned it, but no one gave any details.

While negotiating the offer the recruiter came back to me and said "We’re working through headcount planning right now. The position you applied to is closed". Looks like a hiring freeze. Does this mean layoffs are coming up? What about the candidates (like myself) who cleared HC and was in negotiating process?

Anyone here familiar with the hiring process of KPMG consulting in Van? Had a partner interview on Nov 21, thought the feedback was positive but haven't heard back yet (no rejection/offer). Is it something normal or the interview just didn't go as well as I thought?

It's an experienced hire for an SC role. I saw the posting is still open atm, and my guess is that the recruiting team is comparing candidates since competition is higher due to recent layoffs.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Fishes,

I am currently working as an Analyst in HCL Technologies BSERV which is considered as a BPO. I received a promotion to a new job post Sr. Associate-WPC. Is this new position also a part of BPO or does it come under IT or Technical Department? Also currently there is no hike being provided even though the band has changed from 0.3 to 1.1, can I expect a hike once the yearly cycle is completed?

How does one find direction in what they want to do in life? I don’t find my job as a tax manager fulfilling and my busy time conflicts with some of my favorite hobbies, skiing and snowmobiling. I find it hard to determine my next step because I’m all about relationships, love my clients and am a sales/big picture thinker, so naturally industry doesn’t interest me. Deloitte question. I have always gotten a raise each year, the only question I ask is how much of a raise do I get. But I’m hearing from former Deloitte folks, it is naive to expect annual raises each year however small/big they are? And how does this play in Deloitte consulting vs advisory? Do one tend to withhold annual raises in base salary over the other, or is this just a deloitte culture thing? Looking at exit opportunities all over. So lmk! I’d Rather get a small raise than none at all.
