Predatory firm pushing their own expensive and crumby financial products under the guise of financial advisory.

That is an interesting opinion. One of the reasons I came to Jones 13 years ago from Wachovia Securities during the Wells Fargo merger was Jones being a private firm with no proprietary products. As a CFP with primarily a fee based book using the most common index funds for the base of most portfolios from Vanguard to ishares. I’d be curious to see what you consider non-crumby financial products?

I’d consider the reputation that everyone is commenting on - even if you’re not a sales monkey, it’s not a name that will give you much clout in when you’re looking for the next role. I’d compare it to like northwestern mutual

There is a lot of change happening at the firm. I’m a home-based associate in marketing. No suit & tie required. I wouldn’t say it’s a totally modern company (yet) but there are people within the company pushing for that. But we still have a ways to go in my opinion, particularly with process & culture.

I've never worked there, but have had dozens for recent college grads reach out to me as an alumni to sell me insurance/investments. It's a sales gig.

Lol … I am offered in IT strategy side

Lol guys.. I understand your frustration and trust me I am not looking to become one and will not be responsible for flooding your emails. I am just looking for someone who is not a financial advisor at the firm and has a perspective about the culture and growth .. salary increments / promotions etc

For what it's worth, a company that puts its values and ethics into predatory practices like that will permeate every aspect of the business. That leadership team is probably toxic.

Sure, let me know what questions you have

You’ll almost certainly have to live in St Louis, where the home office is. Culture is actually very friendly, but can be “Midwest nice” instead of actual nice sometimes. Change comes at a glacial pace. They take a lot of pride in never doing layoffs, so you’re pretty much guaranteed a job for as long as you’re a halfway decent performer. The home office staff wear coat and tie/business in solidarity with the FAs, so if a casual office is a requirement, it may not be the best fit for you.

Fair enough, my latest experience there was when she had first become the managing partner. I actually dug the suit and tie thing, for what it’s worth, but I do think shifting the culture from being so aggressively Midwestern is likely to take some time.

Struck out on MBB recruiting, I have never felt so defeated in my professional life. Now I question whether my MBA (M7) was even worth the investment. I am aware that this is a function of the bubble I am in, but up to now I thought I was doing relatively well professionally, apparently not 😟

Anyone here work for EY Parthenon? Do you like it? What's the pay and travel like?

On my first vacation. Was hoping to see a bunch of emails come my way so I could ignore them. Not a single email directly for me. I feel like that girl that wants attention when she doesn't get it.

Anyone interviewed at ByteDance for the strategy role and willing to share their experience about the interview process? Thanks so much!

Hey Fishbowl family - anyone working at EY-Parthenon that would be willing to chat with me about their experiences (with the potential of a referral)? I have total of 5 yoe specifically in Life Sciences and really would like to explore the potential of interviewing for their NY office. I have been able to land interviews/offers from other T2 firms but would really love to network and connect with EYP. EY EY-Parthenon

What was your starting salary in your first full time job after college and what's the average annual % raise you've received until now? Trying to get an idea about salary progression with age.

Would anyone be comfortable sharing their redacted resume? Have 6 years of cyber security experience, all in consulting, and am struggling to find the right way to summarize my projects and the best layout to use template wise. Also, should a resume with my background still be just a one pager? TIA!

For those that have conducted stakeholder (18 to 20 people) interviews across depts. within the same organization asking 7 to 10 questions per person, what approach are you taking to theme the data?

Has anyone gone from making 120k per year to 160/180k ? How did it feel and was it a huge life improvement and did u finally feel like everything your invested in your work life paid off? I’m at 120k rn and for the number of hours I’ve put in and the complete lack of savings I have living in a hcol city I’m hoping that my next salary will ameliorate my money worries . I don’t think after all I’ve done (school/work) I should feel underpaid and broke but I do

Anyone filed for L1A visa recently and got approved or RFE? Please share your experiences. Mine was filed in premium towards late September and got RFE in early October. The RFE details are yet to be received.
