Are there any recruiters from IBM who have information on their apprenticeship program (Soft Eng)? I have applied and my application is under review. How much knowledge/skill set does one actually need to get into the new collar program? From what I have gathered online, it's kind of a mixed bag and can take a long time to onboard someone. I am self taught, know the basics of two languages and have some small projects to show. Just wondering if there is anyone that has been through this process.

One of the most unique workplaces in the world. Look it up there’s lots of papers on the founder, Ray Dalio’s, strategy. Every conversation is recorded and you are measured for ‘believability’ by your peers. It’s a radical approach, but the founder believes in being radical. Outside of that it pays handsomely.
Definitely do your due diligence because either you’ll love the work style or you’ll hate it.
It’s also the largest hedge fund in the world.
Yeah it’s probably cult like. The theory of transparency sounds good but I could see it going haywire at times
I interviewed there a while back. It is possibly the most interesting/strange company in the world. People there are very smart but eccentric. Pay is great but culture probably isn’t worth it if you’re a normal person. They abide by Ray’s “principles,” so they are supposed to be perfectly honest all the time — which can lead to an abrasive and harsh environment from what I’ve heard
I really have no idea. The culture really doesn’t jive for most people, so just think twice about whether the move is worth it. Most people leave within two years I’ve heard
Cutthroat like a lot of other big HFs (e.g., Citadel) but can be even more challenging as a result of the insane culture. Most don’t make it >1 year.
Thank you. I’ll keep this in mind. Will definitely go through interviews to see what happens. I’m going to ask comp up front. Since they’re so “transparent” hope they give me some firm numbers.
Going back to what EY1 said- if you can make it work cash the check…
A mix of analytics roles and compliance analytics roles. My exp is on the data side of the systems.
Coach
Everyone chill, it’s a compliance tech role.
Ty for the response!
I’ll listen to them but probably will pass. Hoping I land one of these big tech roles instead. Or could leverage BWA offer for higher TC at big tech
Didn’t they develop their own proprietary feedback software so you can blast your colleagues real time.
Although I’d probably just stop the presentation and heckle. Seems like a rough place to star out but once you are used to it would be like a frat hazing party all the time
From my research I’ve seen similar stories! I’ll report back and let you know TC and stuff. If they’re going to be beating my big tech comps by like 50k+ I’ll debate it. If not I’ll just hope to landing big tech
