This is one of the reasons I really appreciate working at a firm that doesn’t have a minimum hours requirement. It’s absurd that you wouldn’t receive credit for something that was assigned to you by a partner.
Happens all the time. I'm in charge or two or three yearly non-billable projects that take a substantial amount of time. Sometimes my billables during those months will get as low as 100-115. There was ONE YEAR where I got a comment from a particularly forgetful partner regarding my billables. Basically I was like, "I understand. Let me know if you'd like me to transition [Project 1] and [Project 2] to [Paralegal] so that I can dedicate more time to billable tasks. My total hours worked this month combined was approximately [a number more than 50 hours above my billable target]." Nope. He doesn't want anyone else to do it because the paralegals fucked those projects up. That's the last I heard about it.
I’m in the same boat. I feel really discouraged that I’m spending all this time and effort and it won’t count towards my hours/bonus eligibility.

Yes and my last firm had admin codes so you could log that in the billing software as nonbillable. But at my new firm, they only have admin codes for marketing.
