How did you know you were drinking too much?

WOULD A DRINK HELP?
By going back in our own drinking histories, we could show that years before we realized it we were out of control, that our drinking even then was no mere habit, that it was indeed the beginning of a fatal progression.

An addict is one who repeatedly engages in a behavior that they know to have negative consequences in their life, because they are looking to change the way they feel or to “escape”, and there’s a false idea that “this time will be different”.
Hookah/nicotine is in that weird gray zone between a chemical addiction (alcohol/drugs) and a mental addiction (gambling, sex, shopping, etc.). In the end, for any true addict, it’s a soul sickness that drives us to our DOC (“drug of choice”). Sounds like yours in hookah.
When you start smoking, do you smoke more/longer than you want to? Do you tell yourself you won’t go to the lounge tomorrow, and then you end up there anyway?
Perhaps it’s a bad habit. Or maybe it’s psychological related to stress. Or maybe you’re truly addicted and there’s no logic involved at all.
You can try to break the habit. You can see a therapist. Or you can look into 12 Step programs. Or all 3. Or you can do nothing and continue to spiral downward. Action produces results; thinking does not.
You’re not alone, and all of us recovering addicts have been right where you are and have found a daily reprieve that works for us, one day at a time. :)
Such a wise reply. Applies to all kinds of behaviors

Tobacco?
Are you sure the issue is a chemical addiction as opposed to perhaps depression or some other demotivating emotional issue that’s causing you to indulge in this ritual? I ask because nicotine has a very short half life and withdrawal begins quickly when you have an addiction to it. Not trying to trivialize, just wondering if maybe this goes deeper than just nicotine addiction.
Is there nicotine in hookah?
A lot
I’m not sure about this.
It’s not a mainstream thing I guess
