Need help from the Hivemind. I am a rising 4th year who has only been at my firm for a little over a year (after a few clerkships). I like my firm well enough, and the partners I work with like me a lot, but I’ve learned that Biglaw is not the life for me and want to get out ASAP. I’m applying to a Fed agency that I’m really excited about, but the application requires a reference from your current supervisor. I haven’t told the firm I’m thinking about leaving. How would you handle this?

I am Government contracted with CMS. Center for Medicare and Medicaid assistance. I ve been applying for 4 years? I am security cleared by them, I work with their employee portal system, experienced, took over 35 continued education training with them. I reached out and I was told keep applying? Can someone please pull my application please.

I am currently at the end stage of interviews and waiting on a decision from a company if an offer is extended. I reached out to the recruiter on Tuesday asking when I should expect a notification, and was informed Friday. I followed up once more today (Friday), and they stated for me to reach out to them on Monday about the position as they need more time. It sounds like I should cut my losses, but any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I’m interviewing with a startup and have final round interview this week. Talking to the recruiter it seems like they are doing very well (series C, recent acquisition and ARR has more than doubled YoY). I really like them and the team but when researching the person I am interviewing with found out they had layed off an EA due to re-orgs. I am going to ask the recruiter about this but is this a red flag or not really since it’s a totally different dept than the one I’m interviewing for?

This question is going to be annoying maybe. I am currently interviewing for CSM roles. I know I am good at what I do and my customer satisfaction and renewal rates definitely show that!
However, most of the interview processes so far have a presentation/QBR. The QBRs I do now are effective, but super informal (no slides).
Do most companies require this component now? If not, which companies don’t? Also, any tips for being successful at these with only casual experience?

I have recently joined BIG3 firm as analyst . I was very excited before joining but the team I am being put in has all maintanence project. I can't ask for team change for atleast 6 to 8 months.

On a positive side I am put on one AI product project where I can do some analysis based on client queries. Mostly using pandas and cloud technologies.

I was thinking to enroll to scaler course to improvise my ML concepts in more depth and doing more projects.

Would it be the right move?

If someone wants to become a principal data scientist in the future what are the technologies I should know and where are the areas should have in-depth knowledge on? Please someone clarify this .
