How much is a good hourly salary rate for an entry-level position at a major clothing store chain? I was offered $16 an hour, which is one dollar above minimum wage in my state. It's not too bad, but I am worried about my shifts, they're all over the place.

Back in the job market , any tips for using this opportunity to switch to product management or sales . I have been throughly technical for my whole career . But being a people person and a visual learner , has taught me that I causenuse those qualities to foray into a sale engineering role . Recently started a part-time gig as a Computer Specialist, FT job is in public safety/law enforcement. Working on certs, no degree - Basically I’m looking for recommendations in the Civil Service or government field for IT jobs. Since I'd attended an interview long back i was surprised to receive this call and HR informed me that I'll be having a HR round and the day comes i joined the call ( literally they didn't even ask a single HR question and it was completely about TR) when I reached out to HR . For 6 months & was informed back in the interview they can extend it to up to 2 years if not hired on as a full time employee in that time frame. Received an offer from a top FAANG for a 250% increase in TC. However, I was initially interviewing for a position that was remote and yet the final offer does not provide that option, non-negotiable. I have a wife and 2-year-old child and another one due in 7 months, and currently live near both sets of grandparents.

Do people lie and say they have competing offers when interviewing? I’ve noticed a lot of candidates are saying they have other offers on the table, but this job is their preference. For those that don’t get the job, I’ve looked back at their LinkedIn profiles and it doesn’t appear that they got new roles from these alleged competing offers.
Is this a tactic that candidates are using now to appear more desirable/ create urgency / salary negotiation tactic? Or am I reading too much into it.
