Anyone at Am Law 200 law firms hearing anything about furloughs or layoffs on the attorney or staff side? Not trying to scare anyone, just curious.

Have an interview with a company I really want to work for tomorrow. My last job I was laid off b/c of an acquisition&recently accepted a job at a diff company b/c I couldnt afford not to. I got this invite shortly after. The place I’m interviewing at the job wouldn’t start til next year. I dont want to seem like a job hopper. Do i tell them I’m at a new role or just not bring it up? The acquisition was public so they can see Im no longer employed with the most recent work history on my resume

It’s hard to be motivated when rounds of layoffs happen and you see all your friends leave. But one thing that’s gotten me through all of this is working out. And when I say workout I mean the most pathetic, sad, barely completed beginner-level cardio dance routines. I’ve somehow forced myself to move while on lockdown and it’s somehow forced me to feel better. Whatever you’re doing, wherever you are: get up and move even if you don’t finish or end up going on a walk. Pls take care of yourself❤️

When a firm does rebadging (make employees join another small company who takes care of HR, payroll, etc), are they not supposed to give severance pay to the employee?

The agent said the construction there is now mostly just facade work on the top so it's not noisy any more, but I don't 100% buy that. I’ll probably be alone this Christmas and I’ve been living alone during Covid. I’ve been fine and done tons of hobbies but thinking about spending the holidays alone is getting to me. Was at dinner with my mom yesterday and we got into an argument about me not wanting to tell her how much my salary is. I had no problem telling my parents right out of college but just feel kind of weird about it as I progress in my career. She said I am getting a big head and I replied that the exact reason I don’t want to tell her how much I make is because I don’t want to brag/ have a big head.
