Anyone at McKinsey & Company in a corporate function role (non-consulting!)? Or consultants, how do you view/interact with people in those roles? I’m looking for feedback on WLB, career progression, and general culture to help with a role I am considering. Thanks!

It can vary greatly on the internal side. I've had two different internal roles so far, best teams I've ever worked with and amazing WLB. But, I know also other colleagues in roles who do not feel the same. You'll need to try to discover it yourself - know it is out there though! Career progression is slower - we say Make you own McKinsey - and in internal roles you'll need to look for your own growth and development path. Good success for me (actively pursuing this), but also know lifers in their roles forever.

Hello! Just DM'd to discuss a few questions about internal roles if you have the time. Thanks

I recently started an internal role and it’s pretty great. Many of the people I work are former consultants (mostly here, some at other firms) so it’s still getting to work with great people but with solid hours and benefits. The processes and systems on the internal side are ahead of most clients and larger corporations I’ve seen.

Generally speaking, what type of comp is offered for internal roles? I’m post-MBA trying to figure out next steps. Interested in consulting but concerned about travel and WLB

I previously posted about this job but I need to give more context. I am currently working in a position as a contractor. I don't like the way being a government contractor is at this company. They make you feel like you're less than or not really a part of the company. I have an offer for a federal job that is higher pay, significantly better benefits, and more training and growth potential. But the commute is an hour. How would you handle it?
