Anyone been brave enough to ask why a position was open? And if so did that effect the rest of the interview or their decision?

I recently accepted a position in the ICU, but the interviewer described that they're "like a family" (yikes) and how they have travel nurses renew their contract for a year cause it's a great unit to work. But like, if it's so great then why did someone leave...? Lol. Still excited about the job but that did sit on my mind for awhile

Most likely they do not pay their staff enough to stay and force overtime. The “family” talk is a red flag. Means they will cross boundaries and try to guilt you into doing overtime and coming in sick. Travel nurses are happy with their travel pay, that’s why the extend. Are they going to pay you similar pay?

The “family” talk is definitely a RED FLAG!!!! I was bamboozled! My boss is the WORST BOSS I’ve ever had in the 15 years of being in the medical field

I’ve asked and think it’s important to ask because people leave jobs they love for all sorts of good reasons that may not be a reflection of a “bad” working environment. Moving, financial priorities, family conflicts, etc! When I asked I was told that the person who had been in the role I was applying for had been in that role for 5+ years and wanted to change their career path, he declined a promotion and pivoted to a different department. They even offered I speak with him, which I did! He was nice and honest about his decision to transition out, but wished the team all of the best. It was helpful for me to understand what the team dynamics were and it was great transparency from the hiring team.

like

Yea thats awful! I definitely think that not all employers will respond candidly or professionally, but that’s usually a red flag. Wishing you all the best and hope that the previous person left for reasons unrelated to a bad culture!

Does anyone have family members who constantly demand money because they feel like you’re rich now because you’re a lawyer? I’ve always wanted to be in a position to help my family but we all live in the high COL city so my salary doesn’t carry me as far as it would elsewhere. I’ve given a detailed summary of all of my expenses yet every month one family member in particular comes to me for rent money (not some, the full amount, and they refuse to get a job). It has become quite the burden.

Hello, everyone!

I have an interview for a relatively new law firm early next week. However, upon doing more research about them, I noticed that their website has only a black-and-white website about only what the law firm is about.

My questions are:

Is this a red flag?
How do you guys prepare for interviews specifically with law firms that have little to some information on their website and Glassdoor?

Thank you so much in advance!
