anyone been on adderall for a while and it just stopped working? i’m getting distracted more easily than before and losing motivation, even for things i want to do. while this may be partially due to anxiety/depression, i’m wondering if anyone has switched meds/doses after being on adderall for a long time and found it to be a big help.

You need a tolerance break. Try a week off or if you absolutely can’t, try to only take it on weekdays.

yeah, adderall really messes with my sleep. try sleeping more and the effectiveness should be better. good luck!

I was on it for about 7 years before I started having issues with it not lasting very long. At that point, I switched to Vyvanse which helped a ton.

If you’ve never tried other stimulants it may be worthwhile to ask your doctor. Ritalin is generally not as effective but might be worth a shot to try it out if you’ve never used it before.

Check that you're taking it in accordance with the instructions. Perhaps you've changed the food you eat with it, rendering it less effective.

Yes. Just a feeling, but I think after so long of relying on a medication to force ourselves to focus on tasks our brain inherently does not want to do, eventually our brains override it, b/c it’s exhausted of pretending. Not everyone, b/c some people can take it for a lifetime and it works for them. But perhaps it’s related to burnout. A lot of people have said that about adderall, if you go deep into the older posts of this bowl, I’m pretty sure that very thing has been brought up before. Switching has never helped for me (tho seems to for others). Taking a massive break has, but only for a time.

Oh also might hugely have to do with the manufacturer. I’ve had major problems more recently & now have to start requesting a specific manufacturer from the pharmacy. Teva got bought out by Lannett, and quality has changed. Maybe check the fine print of your previous prescriptions & see if that’s the issue.

I got a fairly high tolerance on it after a few years and switched to vyvanse for a few years before eventually landing on concerta

What's the best way to solve this?
