Yes, unless he can move practices, GTFO.

I’ve known plenty of folks who’ve survived PIPs. You have to want to - nearly everyone who put in the effort survived them. I always suggest a backup plan by applying elsewhere, and indeed some folks just use the time to find something else.

PIPs are usually used for one of a few things - either HR/Legal doesn’t think they have enough to terminate without litigation risk and they want to use the PIP period to document it, or the person has been a good performer in the past and they want to use it as a wake up call to turn things around.

I did. Utilization was low in my second year

Had a friend, changed teams and he's all right now. Trying to fight PIP in your current team is quite tough, likely the leadership is trying to get rid of you.

I will add that D1 a right. Extremely low utilization may be an exceptional case. However, the fact remain that his partner *let* him get a poor rating. It’s best to protect yourself, and seek other opportunities.

Survived a PIP and got promoted the following year without switching practices when I was at a Big 4 — although I immediately switched after I got through the PIP/promotion process (to the one I wanted in the first place).

Also the sooner he leaves, the better. They usually time-box pips, so they may reevaluate him at a certain date, say September 30th. Additionally, it’s best to stay staffed. Wishing your friend the best in this this difficult situation.

In this economic situation PIP’s are probably harder to get out of. Would suggest even though in the past you can survive, would be concerned with firms looking to reduce headcount.

Yep. Just pulled a miracle on ice myself

PIP’s are often a prelude to being let go

You don’t say?

My friend was PIPd at Facebook ended up switching teams to survive

I got referred for "role 1" a few weeks back. I'm a semi-good fit for it. Did GCA and RRK today. GCA was good, RRK didn't go amazing.

In between interviews I receive a message from a Google hiring manager for "role 2" I am much better qualified for. This came via a referral from someone working in HM's org.

What happens should I have tanked RRK for role 1 today? Will they let me go on to interview for role 2 or will I be out? When should I reach out to my recruiter regarding role 2?

I want to quit soon before busy season so that my team can find a replacement. I know it’s always better to have a job in place before you leave, but can you accept an offer from another company if you haven’t quit your job yet? is that wrong/unethical? Idk if it’s presumptuous to quit before I get an offer. do you also let companies know you are currently working for someone else when interviewing, or you should’ve quit already? I’ve never quit before, so not sure how the whole process works
