Another day, another person leaving Havas :///
My retirement is screwed
They probably don’t have a laptop ready for you anyway.
Happened to me yesterday. Ideally, I'd like to take today off too because I'm still pretty sick (stuffy and headache, but fever is gone), but I think I can at least function today and have been on antibiotics for 2.5 days so I'm not contagious, so I feel like I need to go. 😩
Shit happens. Don't worry about it.
They were super understanding about it. I called HR the day prior and gave her a heads up that I was very sick and had started taking antibiotics and didn't want to consider missing day 1, but also didn't want to spread germs in the office (also not a good first impression), and asked what she preferred I do. They preferred I get better first and actually were overly nice this morning (new day 1) asking was I sure I felt good enough to work and I should rest and get better first if not.
Also, there was zero orientation. I never thought somewhere would have less documentation and process than my last agency, but apparently it's possible! I spent a good bit of my day reading up through the general Slack channel to find anything that might be remotely useful. 😂
Same. I was still sick too. Annoying ass sniffles all day. The shitty part about it happening on day 1 is it pushes the start date by a day and caused me to lose a few hundred dollars. Not the best.
Not the first day but definitely a day in the first two weeks. Just cover your bases and present a doctors note. If they say anything it’s pretty much illegal.
Stopped into a walk-in clinic on my way in with a fresh UTI 😑 haha
Nothing wrong with calling in sick on your first day. So what, you miss out on the exciting world of HR orientation and the free lunch with your new manager.
It’s not a good way to make an impression, but if you are really deathly ill - gotta do what you gotta do. But know it puts you even more under the microscope for the first few months.
I did this, but it was the 2nd day on the job. I was still sick when I came back, so they knew I wasn't full of shit.
