Anyone been so sick they had to miss their first day at a new job?

Has anyone here gone to or considered therapy? A combo of being unhappy/overwhelmed at work and feeling stalled on development areas. Any thoughts (except judgy ones) much appreciated!

I’m irritated with my friend and myself. She tested positive for covid and I likely have it. She had symptoms the day she saw me (scratchy throat, body ache) & rather than cancel or let me know she had symptoms of something - she was quiet about it and met up with me anyways. Now I have the same symptoms (scratchy throat & body aches) & will likely have to quarantine for 2 weeks. I will get tested but boy am I irritated. I am at a DoD focused startup that is drafting their military leave policy.

Our PTO is Flexible Leave = they don’t track days worked in return for days off

The draft military leave policy:
- 2 weeks of annual AT can be flex leave
- 2 days allocated a year for PT test

I previously worked at Deloitte and loved their military leave policy, so I am pushing for 2 weeks of AT allowed and 80 hours a year for travel to drill/medical appts/misc days you have to meet active counterparts.

Thoughts?

Question on vaccination requirements. Does anyone require the booster to be considered “fully vaccinated?” We are requiring employees to be boosted to come into office and I’m not sure if that’s legal.

Hi! I need some help negotiating a raise. I have been working for this company for exactly 3 months now, but I was hired as an AGM. I'm not specific on what my responsibilities are as AGM.
However the GM at the time, quit 1 and a half months in. I was thrown into the role and have been handling it since.
My regional calls himself our GM but is never on site.
Was reluctant to cover my shifts when I became sick and requested time off for a few days. (4 days)
Any thoughts?

Curious of who tested positive for covid, did you have stomach issues? I don’t have any other symptoms but can’t seem to trace back why my stomach is acting up and getting paranoid. On the other end, literally everything is listed as a symptom now so it’s so up in the air until I am tested.

I have resigned from cognizant. I have many casual leaves , earned leaves , earned leaves carry forward and sick leaves.
Will they pay for all these leaves ?? Or only for specific leaves ?

Another was a kid outside a school (who ends up peeing his pants) explaining how messed up your day was going to get because of him.

For those of you working from home, do you know whether your coworkers will be throwing a baby shower for you? I feel like without being visibly pregnant to most people (since we are not in the office), I feel like I’m going to miss out on having one which is kind of a bummer since I’ve always gotten gifts for others.

Went into the office today. The choice to come in was mine as the office is open but there’s no mandate.

Gotta admit, it was nice to have fast wifi, a crap ton of LaCroix I can drink (and take home), and just get out of my home office for a change.

Will I do this often? Doubt it. Is it a nice option to have should my wifi go out again? Yes it is.
