Ugh Sunda is the most basic restaurant in Chicago, nothing on that menu is better than fine IMO. I’ve been there 20+ times for work things because it’s the only place in River North you can always get a same day reservation (which I think is very telling). Personally would never go there by choice, there are far better Asian restaurants, and with much better prices.
A1 - Ming Hin, hands down no contest
Ming Hin for SURE! i am Vietnamese and my parents love Chinese food and dim sum and have very high standards and I took them there and they loved it. additionally they have a lot of locations around the city.
My favorites are the shrimp crepes, shrimp dumplings, radish cakes, congee, chinese broccoli with oyster sauce.
+sticky rice IN THE LEAF, none of that just in the bowl stuff and the honey short ribs and egg custard tart. And OMG, the pork rice noodle roll with XO sauce.
Ming Hin for Dim Sum.
