Hello All. I am a recent licensed attorney in NY and AZ. A former judge from Albania. I hold a JD from ASU. Unfortunately, being only focused on trademark associate positions, I have not landed my first year associate job. Actually working in house as a trademark paralegal. Do you remember how did you get your first job as a trademark attorney? Where is a good place I should send my resume in AZ, NY, or for remote? New in the States and I do not have such network! Thanks
Flight from Santiago to São Paulo - I have never seen people struggle so much with overhead luggage. We are departing late because they can’t figure it out :)
Colleagues, looking to connect w/ female Partners/MDs who work in the advisory practice of a Big 4 acct. firm (Deloitte/EY/KPMG/PwC). I'm pursuing a doctoral degree and interested in learning about women's career paths toward partnership. If you, or someone you know, is passionate about women's advancement in the Big 4 and are open to sharing personal reflections on career trajectory, I'd be grateful to have your input shape the study. Entails a 1 hr zoom interview; all info will be anonymized.
Recently i got an offer from HCL tech. The scheduled only one round of interview and then HR discussion happened and offered me around 45% from current package. My question is usually for experienced candidates there will be atleast 2 rounds of interview right? So after joining will they put me in bench and i will have to attend interviews there? I’m a lazy investor and don’t want to think about my money, so I invest my Roth IRA and 401K into a Vanguard target fund (2065). Should I be doing more with my money?
Can Marriott/spg points be used for on property (Marriott/spg) restaurants? Thinking of taking family to Mumbai Sheraton for late night buffet.
First time leaving firms - not sure what to do with my 401k. Should I keep it as it is, transfer to an IRA, or a Roth IRA. If it is the latter, I know Roth IRA has a 6k limit but my 401k has ~17k. Will it exceed the limit and if so, what should I do? 22 here, not too familiar with the process. Thanks!
Here’s a handy comparison of the available Vaccines and an easy to follow written summary https://www.statnews.com/2021/02/02/comparing-the-covid-19-vaccines-developed-by-pfizer-moderna-and-johnson-johnson/
I work on a relatively large team. The AGC I report to will soon be taking a 6 month sabbatical, and I’ve been tapped to temporarily assume their role and responsibilities during this time, including taking on direct reports. Should I look for a (temporary) comp bump, or suck it up and enjoy the resume building opportunities?
How do you get better at interviewing?
Would you choose an investment job at a private, partner-owned long only fund where you’re guaranteed to never lose your job& can be a multimillionaire; or at a very top L/S HF where the bottom performers are fired each year, but you could make multimillions in a good year? Another related q, would you forego the offer at the first place to potentially get the offer at the second place, knowing it’s very competitive? Assume you’re target background, at another top fund, good work ethics
If you could work remotely full time and live anywhere in the US where would you choose to live? (Assuming all visa hassles addresses around proximity to office etc)
Does this guy ever have a plan? This is just so wrong. The Pakistani team is definitely very talented but this is just poor leadership IMO. https://fb.watch/8bbWxnKwNJ/
Got a 4 in my first year but not on a PIP. My current project is going very well. Is there any chance for me to get promoted next year ?
Went out this weekend for my cousin’s 21st bday. My cousin ended up getting super sick, throwing up at the bar, etc. my buddy and his gf came to the same bar (they were celebrating gf’s bday). Seeing my cousin in a bad state I decided to take her home. My buddy’s gf got super mad at me and my gf for wanting to care for my cousin. She then gave a half assed apology saying she was annoyed at the situation. I don’t really know how to bring this up to my friend. Any suggestions are appreciated!
For the first time in 5 years in this job I truly love my team, my manager and the work I do. Client really likes our team and is nothing but helpful. It happens! Wish that for everyone here. TGIF
What does M&A consulting at big 4 look like, especially at the entry level? All my previous experience is in audit/tax and I know nothing about consulting, just wanted to try something new. I liked my finance courses in undergrad, but not sure how relevant that is. Would I have ANY transferable skills from my accounting background? Can you explain what the work is like for a new hire? Especially if you've made a similar switch?
