(1/2) As my first full year of practice comes to a close, it looks like my pre-tax salary for this fiscal year year will be just short of $400k — after year end bonuses are distributed next month (the 400k figure also includes my low base, but 75% of it reflects bonus). As of now, before my bonus has come in, I’ve got 193k student loans, 60k in investments, and 20k in savings. 🇮🇳 gay guy here in early 30s. Been out to immediate family several years now. My parents have their moments but are by and large supportive, accepting and understand what it means to be gay. However, they still think of homosexuality as a dirty little secret, a horrid thing which one should be ashamed of. Moreover, I can tell this has taken a great toll on their well being..life is anyways hard, but this burden just makes it harder.

They're also terrified of extended family or family friends ever coming to know. Obviously, anyone who has half a brain probably has a hint by now but I wish my parents would just grow a pair and let people know what the truth is. I've told them that I can't remain in the closet forever and gradually as I start telling people the word will spread in our super connected world...they just don't seem to understand...keep lying to people about why I'm not married yet...ugh...sorry just ranting.

New idea: investing platform that lets you make a note when you buy stocks/ index funds. And then tracks the growth of those stocks separately. (I.e. I have like 200 shares of something. But I bought 10 of those shares when I switched firms. And 10 of those shares with my 2022 bonus.
