This annuity is Terrible! I think people only sell it because the commission is rumored to be 9%. Try a different annuity!!

like

If 9% is right, that's criminal.

First off it’s not a 9% commission, second if you charge 1% per year over a clients life you would make way more than 9%. Not arguing about the fee and clearly you have no idea how it actually functions so you have no purpose in this discussion.

like

Yeah will probably be tough to explain that to them when you can’t even explain how the product works but good luck.

When done that early and starting income at age 60 at 5% withdrawal rate you can get your money back out plus some pretty crazy income payments with even modest interest increases each year.

Have either of you ever even run an illustration of it or have any idea how it actually works at all?

If it is so great, why does a sales person need to be incentivized with a 9% commission to sell it to people. Btw, do you really ever see bad illustrations? I do, from people who are sold annuities they don't need.

Op. I've considered it for myself. I understand it to be a great product. I wish it had a shorter surrender period, but for younger clients with large accounts, it's a great place to invest money without risk of loss.

I can't speak to the upfront commission, I always pick the largest trailing option. Also, I'm not sure What IA1's problem is with the investment. He never once stated a reason....

There are too many people on here who are just annuity haters and commission bashers. I love annuities and I plan to get one as soon as I am rich. I’m planning to get a very large one with high commission and pay the commission to myself! ;)

Starting to interview with startups offering equity (both are still private, but close to going public) but don’t know much about it as I’ve never had equity in my comp package. How is equity taxed? If they don’t go public before I leave, but my equity is vested, would I lose it? Any general info here would be greatly appreciated

Capgemini I joined sometime back at D1 level , I do technical work most of time like coding, dev, testing etc.
I have worked a lot in my 14 years and still have required skills needed for the work. I don't have energy to slog any further. Moreover I get anxiety when I see junior level people doing same work as me and earning more or same.
I feel cannot sit longer hrs due to back issues and other health issues and family commitments.

Can I change to management side without risking my job .

Pros to Merrill: Bump in compensation, additional tools and services w banking, ability to take over assets.
