Anyone consistently and comfortably wear heels? How do you get out of the baby giraffe phase and not look/feel ridiculous?

Former pageant queen here - truly practice makes perfect. I used to wear heels around the house to practice walking confidently (carpet is good exercise for the ankles). Think heel toe, don’t look down, and start with a block heel & work your way up to stilettos. Bonus: walk over grates in stilettos by “tiptoeing” in your shoes!

I’ve also heard great things about cole haan

As for the baby giraffe phase, that’s all about learning how to properly walk in heels and practicing. You still need to walk “heel-toe”, keep your front knee straight when your heel strikes the ground, and reduce your stride.

Go with block heels first. Super stable and more comfy. Then try a skinnier heel eventually.

I love the feeling of listening to my heels click on the floor. I also love how great my legs look in them. I started off with block heels and also putting the gel inserts in to make them more comfy as I broke them in. Otherwise, it’s just practice. Now, I wear heels walking all around nyc and also on airplanes without a second thought, you’ll get there

Thank you! I feel like being quarantined is the perfect place to practice!

Comfort brands tbh. I love Naturalizer stilettos which are actually quite stylish. But I can’t do anything past 3” Or start off with wedges until you get used to them, then gradually go higher

Turned 30 today. Gotta say I feel fine. Slightly fatter than I’d like to be but I am ok financially, married, and have a baby on the way. Getting 5 months of paid paternity leave (Thanks Accenture!) so hopefully will be able to ride out the tail-end of ‘rona.

Big decision. Took a job at a small org/higher level with shot to GC to develop my strategic/team building skills. Turns out that’s not the role. I’m micromanaged, under-utilized, & stagnating- no real development, but it’s SUPER easy, good pay, nice folks. Recruiter called &, Hello, offer. Different industry, more pay, work, development, opportunities to grow into F500 parent. I know I should be satisfied with decent $ & an easy job. What’s wrong with me? What to do?

My husband and I started thinking about having kids. I am pretty nervous about it since it’s during a freaking pandemic. I had a miscarriage with an unplanned pregnancy before so not so confident how prepared I will be this time. Any tips what did all of you amazing working moms do when you’re planning for a baby? Like dietary, clinical, financial and emotional preparation, etc. also with this pandemic, i don’t know if I will be able to join any moms group to meet new moms and babies...

All-my dad has been guilt tripping me into visiting him. He is 8 hours away driving without stopping. I am pregnant and am not traveling anywhere where I can’t drive non stop - not even seeing my in laws 90 minutes away. I know it sounds crazy but that is where I am. He half jokingly said I could wear Depends. Please tell me I’m not crazy and that it’s okay for me to not go and my dad should be at least somewhat understanding. We don’t have the best relationship.

I am not from the US and taxes overwhelm me; the first few years I did them with TurboTax and it was fine but then I entered a domestic partnership and had a baby. I also bought a house (that I don’t live in), so I went to H&R Block to give it a try assuming they could advise me on optimizing my return, it seemed that they are completely transactional as the person is just typing numbers in a form. Any recommendations on how to navigate personal taxes with an actual advisor?
