I do!! On Lake Norman. Love it now that the toll lanes are open! EY just opened up a big new office here, and of course we have offices for all of the consultancies. Banks, Lowe’s, Allstate, Duke energy - lots of other big companies too.
It is amazing how much better that has made life
I’m from there, and I have family who work in finance and engineering at Duke. Charlotte is a lovely city. It’s relatively quiet, but there’s a lot to do, if you seek it.
I to am in DC. If you ever want to connect or grab a beer, let me know
Thanks for the perspectives everyone. I am trying to pivot into power and utilities so I am eyeing duke. I think it would be a good fit for me as I grew up in a city like Charlotte, but my hometown is lacking in opportunity

👋🏼 I do. its very livable and growing fast. You might find it smaller than some comparable cities but theres a lot of cool stuff going on

Honestly depends on where you are coming from and what your expectations are. It’s Austin / Nashville but in more of a banking and NASCAR way.
I would be coming from Washington DC
👋 I live here too! I’ve also lived in NYC. It’s definitely smaller but I love it for so many different things. Plenty to do, more space than NYC, etc. It’s a big financial services hub so plenty of consulting opps, decent exit opps too but it depends on what you want.
Same! We moved here from NYC!
I do 👋🏻 I really enjoy it! Happy to talk via message!
Can’t imagine a city that’s more livable (probably changing with raising population) but I find it pretty boring - big banking company town
Lake Norman is not safe, so let’s leave that one out. It was built by Duke in like the 70s and there have been ocular cancer clusters reported in towns that get their water supply from it
3-4 hours from the beach, 2 hours to the beautiful mountains - great location.

So you’re saying there’s nothing there, you need to travel....
Immigrant here with no driving license yet. Charlotte is one of the options I am exploring. If I stay in downtown, can I survive 6 -12 months without a car?

A car would be ideal but you could make out work
I’m currently in Charlotte and love it, what are you looking to learn and where are you at now?
Gotcha, as many have discussed, Duke is huge here, staffed there for some time so can provide some insights via DM
Thanks everyone. I’m trying to pivot into the utilities and been eyeing Duke. Wish me luck
