Anyone do an analysis on PA vs. the IRS, or know of something other than “googling it” - that pension fact gets me thinkin’ sometimes.

Which Pension; the IRS pension or PwC’s pension?

I think you’ll find PwC to be much more lucrative than the IRS (who hasn’t gotten a raise in years), but you’ll work much longer hours at PwC.

First, was definitely referring to the partner pension and very much agree tenure has no guarantee whatsoever of making partner.

Yes, IRS Pension is easier to get. You just need to be employed

It’s nearly impossible to get a job at IRS

They never hire and when they do, a million ppl apply

Received a verbal job offer on Tues. $5k short of what I had said was my desired range but still up from my current salary. We set up a call for Thurs to discuss further. On Wed they sent me all benefits info. Thursday on the call I asked if we could either increase moving stipend or get closer to my desired salary. They said no, and I asked them to send over written offer and I would let them know by Fri. They then email they are no longer offering me the position and repost it the next day:

Thinking about asking for 46K, new cellphone and official title change. I'm expecting some negotiating, which I've never done. 24F, AA Bus Admin, and overall good employee

Hi tax 🐠,

I have a question for those who prep individual tax returns. My parents claim my grandfather as a dependent on their tax return and due to their low income, receive PTC for the premiums they pay on his insurance (not eligible for medicare). However, would it be advantageous to have him file for his own tax return (he stays with my parents and doesn't have his own proof of residency via bills). If so, can he get PTC if his income is 0?

How do you find firms/books of business to buy? All the posts on here are buyers looking for sellers. Where do you go to find someone looking to sell or retire?

I am sick of being a realtor! I've been trying for 5 years and have only sold 3 houses. Where I'm from (small Southern town) nobody is buying. Most people's families already own homes and it's just a bummer to see all these nice houses deteriorating over time.

I heard someone make a bold statement that contributing to a traditional 401k versus a Roth 401k were the exact same assuming the same tax rate. I ran the numbers and to my surprise they were not wrong (even considering the earnings). Can anyone explain why a Roth would ever make sense given that income will likely be lower and therefore lower tax rate in retirement?

What is considered a “large” caseload in employment litigation? I work at a large L&E boutique law firm and handling about 14-15 active litigation cases in state/federal court or arbitration. Not sure if that’s a typical caseload or not?
