How do you know if you're over saving for retirement? I get the advantages of 401k / Roth, but you have to wait until 65 for those benefits. For those planning early retirement, how are you thinking about this?
When other people are drunk, they make poor decisions. When I‘m drunk, I apparently make wise financial choices including increasing my allotment to savings and my 401k contribution. 😂
I know this has been asked a million times so apologies in advance. I'm 24 and this is my first full time job. I'm putting 10% into 401k and $5500/yr into Roth IRA. Anything else I should be CONT
Anyone have the CRPS designation? Thinking about going after 401k business and don’t know if it’s beneficial or not.
Hello! 23 y/o, 2nd year analyst who is ~hopefully receiving her first bonus and wondering what tax elections / retirement elections I should make? I max my Roth, and should be close to maxing my 401K, but wondering if it makes sense to dump it in trad 401K to avoid the taxes? Otherwise would I just keep my normal paycheck contributions and call it a day? Thanks!
Besides the apparent maltreatment/salary difference. How does working as a citizen legally differ from working under H1B? Do H1Bs have diff tax brackets, health benefits access, or even 401K contribution limits? I heard H1Bs need to renew every year, how true is that? Thanks a lot.
I have 6 months worth of expenses in my bank account, I max out a 401k and IRA, and I still have a little bit left over after expenses. Only debt I have left is mortgage, should I put the extra I have towards my mortgage or keep saving it?
Disclaimer: Total Finance Noob. I just recently got a job, which to me, is amazing. 120k salary, no real expenses other than living costs (rent and food). What is a good way to set myself up for success? My company matches my 401k contribution. Not sure about Roth or traditional. Trying to save up as much as I can because I am a little late to the game, late 20s. Any advice to someone trying to learn and catch up?
Just gotta tell someone and it’s totally gauche to tell anyone I know. My husband and I just hit a million dollars net worth—well, it was probably a few days ago but we just updated the spreadsheet with his 401k balance. AHHHHHH! I had planned to celebrate the occasion with a fancy restaurant dinner but we’re not going out during the pandemic. I’ll have to dig some steaks out of the freezer!
Contributed up to employee match for 401k, what's the next step? 23, no student loans. So overwhelmed by investing, if you have a good starter article I'd love it
Looking to make a home purchase in a year. I’m bringing my money from different accounts to Vanguard. (Was on Betterment) 1. Should I have different accounts for different goals? (a home purchase account, retirement savings account (outside of IRA/401k), emergency fund account...) 2. I’m a beginner/intend to be hands-off. Would you recommend VOO, VTSAX/VTI, VTIAX for either accounts? or for everything? Resources you like are welcome so I can educate myself too. Thank you
Where should I set up my traditional and Roth IRA? My new company doesn't match so looking to rollover my current 401k stuff.
We have it worse than our parents. No real pension( defined benefit plan) which pays you an amount per month til death. 401k are at risk of the market.. while ceos and partners....make millions
All my investing has been through my 401k by just increasing the contribution but think I should be putting into Roth IRA for tax reasons. Anyone have recommendations on how to start?
What’s the rationale as a freelancer to call one’s self an “ECD” or “CCO” or whatever when they never had that title in an actually full-time capacity? Just sounds like over-compensation to me.

Started a new job a few months ago (remote for now). I'd consider myself a friendly person, but it's been really tough fitting in. I can't seem to get in on the camaraderie. And even worse, it seems like my CD and I are always on the wrong page/he seems unhappy with my work, my comments and even my questions. Trying my best here. Working long hours, but...I'm at a loss. Has anyone successfully settled into a job while remote? I sincerely welcome advice here.
