I have a question for my fellow PI paralegals in Texas. TPCIGA requires that we submit all medical bills through the clients insurance before proceeding further. The client in question has Aetna. I sent the bills with a cover letter to Aetna via certified mail. I am having so much trouble getting a status on said claim. Does anyone here have experience with that and can assist me? Any help or guidance is appreciated.

I’m an LCSW with 7 years experience. Currently working as an EAP consultant for an insurance company from home. The pay is good but I hate being on a call queue and the schedule is SO rigid. As a working mom I’m wondering if there are other options for remote WFH positions in insurance out there that don’t require being in a call queue and having supervisors monitoring every single second of your day? I work so much better when I have time to prioritize my tasks and work at my own pace.

I work for a company with a pretty generous PTO policy and a mostly remote flex policy (4 days a month in office if within 75 miles of the building). One thing I’m wondering if there is a way to help us I get the “I’m taking a mental health day” call out regularly which causes a strain on the rest of the team because we were unable to prepare like we would with pre-planned PTO. Any ideas of things I can do as a manager to encourage pre-planned PTO instead of these call outs?

Any in-house lawyers that are required to keep your time? Or senior legal execs who have used time metrics to argue for increased budget for legal staffing? My staff of attorneys are complaining about how much work everyone has. I don’t doubt it because our company has gone gangbusters during the pandemic, but rest of senior mgmt is not keen to increase legal budget right now. I’m in-house at a small company (60 people), started right out of law school about 5 years ago. We had a legal team of 5 then. Everyone has left and we just hired a new GC. I went from $70k to $100k a little over a year ago. I am expecting an offer from a firm doing business law work but think this might be an opportunity to go to my current employer and ask for a significant raise, with new offer in hand. Any thoughts or advice going into this?

Would you purchase equity if private company that you don’t see yourself at for more than a year? 30% vest end of year. Is it only worth it if the company has a possibility of being acquired or of going public? Tbh my first in-house job and not too familiar.

If I have 3 years of experience, up to what year of experience should I apply to jobs for? It is ok to apply to positions that ask for max 5?

No poach agreements (i.e., we agree not to solicit each other’s employees) in customer contracts are a no-no for antitrust reasons, right? A customer is pretty adamant that they want it in but I feel like this is black and white. Would love to know if any of you are seeing them in your customer contracts and whether you’re including “unless prohibited by law” type of language to CYA.

PSA: didn’t think anyone needed to hear this, but apparently many do. When you’re interviewing for a job you actually want, and the interviewer asks if you have any questions for them at the end, have questions ready, and legitimate ones. It’s a really bad look when candidates say “no I don’t have any questions,” or they ask something incredibly stupid like “what cool swag do you get?”

For Meta counsel, how easy is it to switch teams once you are a lawyer in house there? E.g if I am on a product team at Meta, would it be difficult to go to a different team? Like payments to messaging for example? Or from meta product to Instagram well being?

What does clearing conflicts look like when you move in-house?

If I leave my current law firm and go in-house, I understand that the firm would not continue paying for my PLI account. But do I still have access to the programs I have subscribed/purchased before the access expiration date? Or I would not be able to log in to the account set up by the firm email at all?

Doing a remote interview tomorrow for an in-house position that I really want. Invite says "[company] is a startup, so a full suit is not necessary! Business casual attire is recommended." Like I said, I really want this job, and the idea of not wearing a suit is just weird to me

Newly in-house. Apparently, it was bad to offer my opinion that slightly differed from the managers, even though I was invited by said manager to review their suggestion with an internal client. We collectively discussed how to make a document better. I responded to an email that said "hey you and internal client - could you both see my suggestions (which differed from the clients). Internal client didn't really agree, so I said "can we add managers edits but keep some of clients edits"

I accepted a new job back in the summer of 2020 that required relocation for the office opening in Jan 2021. Office is still closed and I haven’t moved. Now we are rolling out a new plan that you just need to be near an office but only go in a few times a year for specific things. There is an office close that wouldn’t require me to move and I’d prefer to work there given the situation but HR is still insisting I’ll eventually need to move. This is so silly 🙃
