Do folks in business/strategy consulting at large firms use firm-approved project management systems, like asana or monday? When I worked at a small boutique firm, folks were obsessed with pristine project management systems and plans and charts and matrices. Now that I'm at a very large firm, it seems like teams maybe have some ad hoc spreadsheets, but everything moves so fast and client requests are constantly changing, it's mostly fly by the seat of your pants.
I rolled off a project 3 months ago. They keep reaching out and asking me to help onboard new teammates to give them historical knowledge (it’s a long-term project). Do I have to keep doing this? Or does it get to a point where I can say I don’t have the time and there must be someone more recent who can help?
Hi! Any career coaches who offer a full support throughout job search? -Experience: 8 years of project/program management and/or communication -Companies of interest: Google, Microsoft, Facebook -Location: Washington DC or VA
Someone let out a silent killer in a meeting with an executive from the client; left everyone guessing and staring at each other throughout. I need a lot of oxygen after all this methane -_-
Any tips on starting a side project to boost my chance of getting hired as a PM without technical experience?
If you sent a subordinate an article that you thought might be related to their current project and they responded with, “Thank you. Very Interesting.” Would you consider that rude? Edit: I am the replyer in this scenario
If you project ends right around when you turn in 2 week notice, will most company let you go immediately or honor your 2 weeks? Those 2 weeks will just be bench weeks then. (I’m Not going to a competitor).
I'm client-side, but work with an awesome media agency. I've been looking at opportunities on their site lately. How weird would it be for a client to apply to a job with the agency they're working with?
I’m a new manager and am trying to get off a client. Need guidance if I should do it. I work with a very nice senior manager who is up for partner. She gave me a very decent review. The client is horrible though. Piecemeal review comments, constant updates workpapers and last minute changes. The only good thing is working with this senior manager. She is also my counselor. I asked her to get off of this account, and she said the firm probably won’t allow it. I have another senior manager I work
How do you deal with a teammate that creates unnecessary work for themselves and others and then acts passive aggressive towards the team? Example - MD has already reviewed and signed off on the document and their feedback was incorporated. Teammate then takes 3 hours to change a ton of the content before sending to client.
Anyone here work with diagnostic labs such as labcorp etc? What’s a good book/resource to get up to speed with the ins and outs of diagnostic lab business? Landed a long term project
Hi fishes! Just joined an FP&A team with no prior FP&A experience and suffering with a heavy impostor syndrome. Can you please help me with what makes a high performing FP&A analyst? My background is in project management for finance, model governance and RRP; Business Admin Grad - Major in Finance. Thanks!
The long and the short of it. I was laid off a couple of months ago, the clients on the account I ran loved me. Can I hit the client up about freelance? The non-solicitation part in my severance package mentions something about a year (which hasn’t passed yet), but still I’m no lawyer and it’s mostly mumbo jumbo to me.
What certifications are good for technical project manager? I was thinking to start with PSM and PSPO and then move to ITIL, ITSM. Not sure about this though. Not planning to do PMP as I think it’s more waterfall focused. Was also thinking about AWS. Any other certifications recommended?
How long would it take me to build a very basic website from scratch? I have no coding skills but want to create a landing page for a side project. Best way to get started?
Partner is pressuring me to join his project in a role with a big name client (for over 9 months) and says he'll support me come promo...but the role is definitely a step back and I have my doubts...
Noob question here but realized I sent out an email with a brief typo to a client meeting chain. I said “Out” instead of our”. Is this like a big deal? Normally, I wouldn’t ask this but my brief experience in consulting makes me feel like every thing I do will be under a microscope and my manager will talk to me about this
Pawns of scatterplot, rise from your hotel beds and conquer your client floors. Those decks won't happen on their own
Currently interviewing with Deloitte S&O, what are the salary bands like for a consultant? They are saying they can't bring me in as a senior consultant because I don't meet the 5 yr work experience
Does anyone know of recruiting firms with a focus on Anti-money laundering? I’m foreign educated and newly admitted NY attorney with CAMS certification but living in Miami lol. I’m here, because my husband practices in SoFlo. Any recommendations? I don’t have any experience but have CAMS.
I’m still fuzzy on this whole innovation thing. People are still getting hired to the role. What do they do? They seem to be nothing more than pundits. Someone else could be hired for that salary.
Thoughts on private equity secondaries? One fund in particular has a mix of traditional secondary LP investments and more structured secondary direct investments. Comp? Lifestyle? Exits?
Which non-SWE roles are worth it at FAANG in terms of pay? Will any pay better than MBB?
Does anyone have any study tips or can suggest a helpful study tool for the HRCI SPHR exam? I used BenchPrepHR to help me prep and took a few practice test. I took my exam last week and unfortunately did not pass. Any tips would be helpful to help me prepare to retake in a few months.
Brand new Deloitte USDC looking to shift to other Big 4. Want to experience core consulting culture and not DC’s. Any advise? Does it look bad on the resume?
What pays more at entry level, FAANG biz ops or MBB? What about at the next level (after 2 YOE or so)?
Accenture hiring for following skills Exp- 2.2 yrs to 14 yrs. Location PAN India. If interested for referral, pls share your resume at email@example.com ASAP. P.S. if already applied or interviewed in last 12 months, pls ignore. Thanks.

Best personal finance/investing books? I’ve read a few “beginner” ones like I will teach you to be rich but would love to read some more
Moms, I am 14 weeks pregnant. At KPMG, the new year starts in October and basically by spring of the following year, so April 2021, is when they put people up for promotion for the following year. My goal is to make it on that promo list in April 2021 - But thats when I am due. When should I inform my team that I am pregnant and how do I let them know that I am still willing to work hard for this promo despite my pregnancy? Thank you!
Work at a hold co and tired of hearing the ceo’s are in it with us and taking cuts? I call BS on that! They are only reducing salary and will still earn millions. Omnicom John Wren - $19,818,780 in 2019, his 2020 sacrifice = 5.05% reduction. IPG – Michael Roth $16,590,172 in 2019 his 2020 sacrifice is undisclosed. WPP Mark Read £2,594,000 in 2019 his 2020 sacrifice = 1.88% reduction. Publicis Arthur Sadoun €3,265,800 in 2019 his 2020 sacrifice = 4.6% reduction.
Should I bother waiting for promo to start applying if I’m looking to stay in consulting short term or would I come in at ~entry level regardless? 2 YOE at ACN Strat, expecting promo to C in Nov. Generally like the work, but feel I could make more while working same or similar hours. Current base 100k, ~6% bonus, expecting that to go to ~130k (?) with ~6% bonus after promo.
I am so happy to not be grinding out 1065s, K1s, or 1120- RICs anymore . This role I’m talking to cpa firms about outsourcing work, tax software companies, mapping data, educating client representatives about tax issues, I’m making 30% more , less hours. Someone change my mind here with work being outsourced to India and automated - is the accounting profession about to change ? Especially public accounting ? I hated getting back some review points on returns .
Are Deloitte layoffs over after tomorrow? S&O just let go 10-15% of the work force. More to come?
i am irrationally angry/annoyed at my job and it’s affecting my personal life. My bosses expect me to pick up the slack from other coworkers and I am one of the only people on the team who constantly has statutory deadlines year round (both GAAP or IRS driven) so slacking off really isn’t an option. any tips on how to cope? i don’t want this affecting my romantic relationship
