Is it worthwhile to put in new wood floors into a newly bought condo? Will it increase home value? The unit has really old floors, so updating would definitely be a plus, but my long term plan for the property is to rent it out, so not sure if it’s worth spending the $$ to replace the flooring

I'm losing whatever glute muscles I previously had sigh. For 6 out of 8 days,
-I do a peleton class for around 20-40 min around lunch.
- I go for a 1-2 mile run after work
-and I do a 20 minute peleton arm/upper body and glutes workout on alternate days with 7-10 pound dumbbells.
What can I do differently to lose the last 20 pounds and get a "slim thic" body. I already eat in a calorie deficit

I’m working as an associate at a mid-size firm of about 140 attorneys, but was just offered a position with an AM 100 as a staff attorney with the possible bump to associate within a year. Is this a good move? Billable hours and salary are the same the first year. Any advice is appreciated!

Just starting as a junior in a big law firm. Everyone seems nice and the work is interesting. My big fear going into this is boundaries crossed for big events (weddings, birthdays, etc). I already told my workload coordinator dates I will be unavailable and will tell people on those teams too. I’m fine with working nights and weekends when I don’t have plans (or little plans I could cancel) but I’m getting scared about interference with the big things. Any advice on how to set those boundaries?

After many years of doing purely corporate law, I recently moved inhouse to do structured finance. Honestly, I am in unknown territories. My boss also not patient about my re-learning process yet they knew from the interview that I know close to nothing about structured finance. I am 2 months into my 6 months probation period and I am worried that I might have bit more than I can chew. FYI - I am doing all I need to do to learn (books) but still struggling. Any pointers on how to get it faster.

How do you strike the balance between being available but not too available so you’re not taken advantage of? I’m a specialist and got an email from the deal team on Saturday afternoon, and I just replied now (Sunday evening). I have a feeling I’ll get chewed out by a partner tomorrow

Thinking about leaving Big Law to work at the SEC. Is the work life balance worth it? I actually prefer government over in house because I feel like I could use the experience to come back as a partner if I wanted too. In house not so much? (Please correct me if I’m wrong)

Hi everyone! Junior associate in big law here. My wife got a job in Chicago and we are looking to move there by January. I am not licensed in Illinois yet but will be taking the bar in February. My firm is allowing me to lateral to our Chicago office but mentioned that “I needed to be bared before we can do that.” Anyone here know if I can still practice starting in January until I get my results back? I am barred in Indiana and do M&A work. Thanks!

It looks like I may clear conflicts about a week before I'm scheduled to take a vacation at my current firm. I was told by my current firm that I won't be able to get coverage for all my matters and will likely need to be available to work for a few hours a day during this vacation. How should I handle this? Is it inevitable that I'll have to work during my vacation right before I quit or is there a way to avoid it?
