Anyone else burnt out mentally even with meds? I’m sleeping, eating well, working out every day, on a low dose of meds but my motivation is in the trash. Take frequent breaks too. Brain feels tired

omg me too! just hit me today (or rather it crept up gradually to a point where i finally registered it 😂)

was reading some articles that say to go even easier on yourself during the time of pandemic. that now we're under constant low level stress that still saps our thinking and motivation (e.g. worrying about are my groceries clean, is it ethical to order online, how can i safely go outside, are my loved ones safe, etc.).

on the more medical side, are you getting enough sun / vitamin D?

But how do you convey that to a team/manager who has expectations for you to keep going? I hit a wall late in the day around 530pm and that is often when my boss wants to talk and convey updates that inform work I need to finish that evening, but I waste so much time trying to run on no energy when I could just do it the next day more rapidly once I’m recharged

I’m dating someone new and it is going very well. He is kind, not high strung, with great values and shares my sense of humor. It is so easy and natural to spend multiple days with him.
Still I am having doubts because I think he isn’t very “intellectual”. To be clear, he’s intelligent! He is a great STEM role that requires an advanced degree. We share a love of reading as well. However he is not really interested in world affairs, does not follow the news closely, does not have a strong grasp

What’s the best low calorie, high protein snack?

Background- In quarantine I’ve been intermittent fasting &calorie counting for a few months, and still working out in the mornings. My workout has usually been a 3-4 mile run and I’ve definitely gotten leaner but I’m now trying to add in more strength training, and so I feel like I should be getting protein after my workouts.

Any advice on where to go from here appreciated too!

Have SO much technical documentation to read by the end of the week. Very dry, but detailed. Probably about 300 pages worth.

Even with meds, focus is tough. Content is just so dry, but I need to be able to understand it to an extent. Can anyone provide any tips/tricks??

I’m great with clients but getting bad evaluations because I’m slow to produce work and don’t take time to communicate status.
I’m trying really hard but I keep getting stuck in perfection loops and scared to share things before they’re perfect.

Did you struggle with this & find a way to improve? I’m terrified I’m going to get counseled out, but I love this job so much.

I started taking Adderal, 2.5 g which is not really a lot. It didn’t really help with my focus, instead I felt restless and somehow nervous and really thirsty. And it made me clench my teeth. I do grind my teeth during nighttime but never experienced this in the daytime. Does it take time to get used to it?

Happy Friday. Just a reminder of a few things:

- ADHD is a disability, but it’s not the end of the world
- give yourself a break. Your brain needs it more than you realize
- medication is not a cure-all treatment. Medication + diet + exercise + self-organization is the key.
- ADHD causes us to feel emotions stronger than the average person.
- failure is inevitable, but so is success. Act accordingly, and be kind and fair to yourself
- life is hard, but that’s… wait, what was I saying? 😂😎❤️

Trouble waking up? Set an alarm, take your meds, go back to sleep, and wake up feeling ready for the day!

I read this tip in another ADHD forum yesterday. Someone recommending setting a “first” alarm and taking medicine and then sleeping in a bit and when your second alarm goes off you’ll feel more awake. I tried it this morning and it was great! 7:15 alarm went off and I rolled over and grabbed my meds and water. Went back to sleep and at 8 when I needed to get up I felt so much more awake!!!
