I often find I’m done work at a reasonable hour, but I still feel like I have to have my computer on all night just because it seems like everyone else is still on. How do you say, “I have too much on my plate”? Not responding that you’re at capacity when someone tries to give you more work, but telling the people you work for that your current workload is too much and something needs to shift elsewhere. At this point I don’t care whether my “too much” is someone else’s “just fine.” All I know is I can’t keep doing what I’m doing. The mistakes I’m making just trying to keep up are getting bigger.

I was at a dinner tonight with a Partner, a Counsel, and a mid-level, and literally we had nothing to talk about but work. Like it’s all we do, every waking hour. I really feel like I have no purpose in life right now, and viewing these people as iterations of my future, it doesn’t seem like this is going to change if I stay in BigLaw. On one hand I feel too cowardly to leave BigLaw right now if a recession is occurring. On the other, life is too short for this living purgatory.

I've never understood what's attractive about going in house. I'm in my second year and people consistently reach out on LinkedIn. I don't have kids nor do I ever plan on having them. I feel like I have enough time for myself and my relationship and taking a decrease in pay doesn't really make sense to me.

I’ve been on partial secondment at a FAANG. Apparently it ended 3 weeks ago but neither the AGC nor relationship partner told me (until tonight) and I’ve still been attending internal meetings and billing to the client. 1) wtf, and 2) should I do any CYA?
