I’m in Advisory but overheard a couple of Audit Partners at the coffee machine last week giggling about how they hope they don’t lose all their staff in April. Was kinda tacky but also kinda cute
Hmmm....most flexible job you could have...I don't think the profession is the issue. It's the mindset of the people that work in the profession. Grow up and stop being so selfish. It's a job and it's a good job. You make good money and as a Manager you can basically set your own schedule...

I’m leaving after that skills bonus on 4/1 and so is another senior on my team. I think PwC should anticipate that.
P9- just because you give people PTO and holidays doesn’t mean they actually can take them. Do you reduce their charge hour budget to account for the PTO? Do you have any backup plans to cover my work so that I can actually take the time that is given me? I have unlimited PTO, but only rarely do I actually take more than a random day or two at a time because of the hell I will have to go thru to cover my clients when I’m gone and catch up when I’m back. The PA model is broken!
Yup. What kind of turnover bloodbath will there be in the next few weeks.
My team of 12 which in past years was between 16-18 has seen 6,4, and 9 associates and seniors leave in consecutive years. This year I think we will finally hit double digits!

Anyone in deals leaving or is it mostly audit and tax?
It's going to be crazy. Only ones that will remain will be the dedicated lifers and naive first year staff.
P7 good luck to you then. I’m sure the pros outweigh the cons if you’re still here!

Literally not having this issue in our office lol. I’m chillin.

It’s funny, I had a normal 2 month busy season and now i’m just chilling working 9-6 from home now in NYC commercial audit
I guess I got lucky but all my audit engagements have been well staffed and ran like normal 🤷♂️
I have heard of some people leave but nothing crazy, maybe the retention and salary increases helped?
Your lucky. Entire teams were decimated. Salary increase def weren’t encouraging people to stay.
I'm putting mine in the Monday after 4/15 😊
We're accountants. Generally risk-averse. Of course I do! Haha. Going off to another Big 4 for a different type of role.
Honestly might just quit without a job lined up Tax FS at EY has been brutal. I dont even lie to staff or interns anymore. Just like yep it sucks.
Dont blame you, heard from my friend in LA EY FSO Tax. Staff have been in 70s and managers in 60s since February. I personally dont see how that is sustainable.
Yep, it’s going to be the summer of hell for all the pushed back audits. May mercy be given to the A2s, for they know not what is about to happen to them
Use your retention check to buy a waterbed or something relaxing to help deal with the stress
We had several people at many different levels leave during busy season. I'm terrified we'll lose more, and on top of that have a significant other telling me the I should be the one considering leaving. Very concerned for the future

We should be concerned, it’s a profession that relies on human talent and enough people below you to lift you up.
I’m going in
I plan on staying til promotion in August then I'm out for sure
Yep I’m gone asap
A2 up for senior promo in July - honestly think I could stick it out, but the real question I’m weighing is do I want the life the seniors/managers on my team have… which seems pretty miserable
Do at least one year. Anything after that is a waste unless you want to be a manager. This is my experience & perhaps not everyones but I stayed too long and the extra years of senior didn't add much value. Im struggling now to see how to even sell myself to industry. We know a lil about a lot and are experts at nothing.
Yep stayed for that bonus, so definitely leaving after 4/1.
