Give it a try. Doesn’t hurt to speak to someone. And I’m sure your parents won’t force you to get married to the girl. Just talk. I did and we’re married now and it is the best thing that happened to me. I think we desis over complicate arrange marriages. It’s actually a blessing in disguise because our parents want to give us a choice, they want to do the work which we probably don’t have time for. Why does it hurt ?
@SC1 - and I am in Texas lol! Even I don’t want to be here how can I ask a girl to move here lol.
So they are fine with the idea of me dating a non desi as well. Just want me to “compromise and settle down”. I just don’t know what that means
Not working out great here though.. West coast ones don’t want to move east and vice versa. Ones in India not really gung-ho about the US
Idk man, I started living in with a non desi and that shut them for some time. By the time they accepted the idea I was ready to dump and run! Try that once and you’ll give yourself a couple of years at the minimum ...
On the other hand you can use this approach, just tell them no means no.
I’m tired of this discussion. I like very few people and limiting that to Indian men is tricky
@a1 I agree and I have done the exact same thing what you suggested. Made few “visits” to India for the same as well, if I didn’t connect with someone I didn’t how can I compromise and change that lol.
@p1 I am somewhat similar and don’t have any prejudice against indian girls. Rather I think if I connect with someone culturally it’s a big plus. Just I don’t want a trophy wife, I want to end up with someone who is intellectual, drama free and focused on being successful in life.
I was on the same boat. 3 years back and forth on this topic with parents, numerous “visits”, finally I came across the “one” and it was an automatic “Yes” from me. Even my parents were shocked how much I pushed them to move things fast to seal the deal
Really! That’s great @k1. I think this is the only conversation I have with my parents and it has been impacting my performance at work and my well being in general.
Did you undergo similar situation? How did you manage your way out. My parents are pretty liberal and open minded but they just want me to “settle down “ so it’s like marry whoever you want but NOW
OP - I am in the same exact boat as you. Everything you said holds true for me. It’s actually taking a toll on my state of mind too. Just curious, how old are you? Do your parents think time is running out? Mine do and I am 26.
OP - SA1 is the douchebag you should avoid trying to be. End of the day marriage is about right person not right age or time. You need to tell your parents to back off and let them know what your actual position is. If they are as liberal as you say they are- they should get it. In the meantime if you are infact looking to meet, look for opportunities to make yourself available. And as an indian woman i can say, dont be the stereotypical lameass indian guy like SA1 who will play around with non indian women just to deal with their issues.
@D1 - 30
@M1 - lol I ain’t that guy for sure :) . No offense @SA1, everyone has their own reasoning
M1- you piece of shit, you didn’t ask for advice and it wasn’t for you... it’s something which worked for me and I honestly just mentioned that to OP... if you want to do your sangam of two souls go ahead and try that! Also still i would prefer to live together for sometime before marrying and I don’t see anything wrong with that! Thank god my parents aren’t as regressive as you and they were okay with my living situation!
Why didn’t you read the whole comment where I said tell your parents no and no means
And my current gf is desi, and we are living together and till we both feel that’s marriage is the right step we won’t do that! Do I have your blessings ?
Ps: don’t try to report me, you started with the bad mouthing ..
