On the borderline of disordered but certainly always had a lot of issues with food. Do you identify as female? If so I recently read a book targeted to women with eating disorders that really made me think. It’s called Eating in the Light of the Moon. Somehow it made a lot of things click for me and I feel like I’m slowly changing my mindset in a way that can help me get over these struggles. It’s like $8 used on amazon. Hope it helps you ❤️
Although, keep in mind the book was written in 1996 and has slightly outdated view on gender. As a straight cis woman I still found it relevant for myself but not everyone will. I still think the lessons are valuable
I would work with a therapist if you can. I feel reasonably over this but it took almost a decade before I feel like I was able to eat and exercise in a normal way. I’m not sure I can point to specific things I did...but I think it helped that I learned to cook and appreciate food rather than viewing it as a thing to stress over. Stopped regularly weighing myself. Focus on how my body feels when I exercise, rather than thinking about weight. Remove myself from the conversation when people are talking about diets or similar topics that can be triggering for me. I feel like it’s a long road of trying to reset our brains.
