I am in need of advice. I've spent the last few years working on the foundations for a career in privacy and would like to keep doing so. But not in practice due to a prior suspension, character limits limit explanation, and I don't want that life. I applied for my dream job for my first major career goal and was told not just no but never. Never would I be allowed to work in my company's legal department.
Is this what I should expect? Nevers? Just give up and regroup?
I started on the 28th of November. Which was the middle of the pay period. When should I expect my first paycheck? I’ll be two weeks in by Friday (which is payday)

Context: Married with first baby on the way. Plan is for my spouse to stay home with our (future) kids for next few years. My income is $250-300K and keeping it that way for a while as I’ve moved off partner track for at least 2-3 years as we start our family.

Beyond mortgage, only debt is a $25K private loan that we can pay back any time in next 5 yrs. and isn’t accruing interest.
Sometimes I subcontract other freelancers, and I have a request - invoice for your work promptly. If it’s more than 30 days since the work was accepted, that’s just sloppy and rude.
Hi Moms, just had baby #2 and we want to upgrade our family car from Toyota Rav4 to a 3-row luxury SUV that's nice looking inside and outside, reliable and has decent cargo space too. My husband doesn't like the exterior of Grand Wagoner. We are considering the Grand Cherokee, Cadillac Escalade or Lincoln Navigator. But I have read terrible reviews about Escalade. Folks seem to like GMC Yukon Denali but I'm worried it'll be too big for me to drive. Appreciate recommendations / thoughts. Thanks!
I got H1B Visa and 83000 USD dollar petition amount as annual package.I am confused as this amount will be enough to survive there with wife and 7 year old daughter. My wife is working here and together we are earning 50LPA annual. We are settled here by owning house too.Confusion is my wife will not be able to work there on H4 Visa so the kind of life we are living here will not be possible there.Thoughts?Suggestions?Pros and Cons?

Starting my counseling career on Tuesday and I’m scared to fail. What if I say something stupid and hurt my clients and make it worse? This is a second career for me so is hard to be older and a novice. I know it’s not about me and that I will truly care so I keep reminding myself of that. Any thoughts from others new to the field or advice from more experienced practitioners?

Hello! I was offered a position at the middle of the posted salary range. I exceed every one of the requirements and all but one of the preferred qualifications. (I will have my Supervision designation in a few months.) Should I negotiate a higher salary now or when I obtain my new license? Would it be appropriate to accept the current salary under the terms that I receive an increase once I get that increased licensure status? Thank you!
Can somebody explain to me how the system works between payer (insurance) and therapists? I’m currently looking for a therapist with a specific focus due to a traumatic event and am only finding counselors that do not work with insurance and charge average $ 150/hour. I’ve definitely thought about it, especially with the increased demand due to the pandemic. The burnout is real. I have been applying to anything and everything that looks like it might pay enough and be in alignment with my natural talents. And for all the talk of the great resignation, people don’t seem to want to hire if the resume History Doesn’t match. It’s been super frustrating.
Yes! Agreed! I thought the current climate would make it somewhat easier to break into a new industry but funding it still challenging.
Yes! I’ve considered going into teaching.
I have started that part time.
The field is so wide and multi disciplined allowing for teaching, research, administration, coaching, supervising - maybe a change of organization or geographic local might help?
Definitely has thought about it. At some point considered IT, data and even as bold as voice animation (bold to me), also recruiting and talent acquisition.
I switched from Mental Health Adults with SMI CM to Prevention Specialist. I work with high school at risk youth. It is very satisfying and not as dangerous.
