Your personal environment within an organization absolutely makes your experience. You could be at a shit org and have a great “immediate” team and things will be fine. Great org and shit “immediate” team things can suck.
^This, I was at a “good” boutique firm but my team was unfriendly, not helpful and made the experience awful. Now I’m at a firm everyone loves to make fun of (but received a promotion) and everyone on my team is nice and helpful so much so I’m still surprised by it sometimes coming from my old firm. Very glad I left even though I’m guessing it left a few people at my old firm scratching their heads

Yup. My mentor left last year and felt really down since then.
I said good riddance when my prior SM left, dude was emotionally abusive as all get out and I still have scars.
Current SM, on the other hand, I will probably follow if/when he ever leaves. Dude’s a class act and I love working for him
Oh yes, I was recruited by the old manager and the regional director. The regional manger left just before I started. The old manager left 3 months into my being there. This happened when I was in a bad car accident and needed to take off to do rehab work - sciatic nerve damage. I called in for something and was expecting the old manager, but was directed to the new manager. Ok, great!
This guy was the jerk of all jerks. Wanted me to travel into the office to meet and was ready to double my work. I explained what happened in case he wasn’t aware, but he absolutely was! I had to hobble into the office and when he was walking around, he didn’t bother to slow down for me. I knew it was going to be really bad from there. I managed another 4 months before just finally quitting.
