Anyone else ever told that you go “too above and beyond” for your customers? For example, I deal with a lot of returns and repairs and sometimes customers don’t have their order information. I offer to help them find it with just some supplemental info. Could take anywhere from an extra 5 to 25 min of digging, depending on what info they can provide. Direct manager? Doesn’t care. Her boss however, made that comment this morning when asked about my daily productivity.

Giving an extra help is not "too above and beyond". Maybe her boss just wants you to do the bare minimum. She/he should be happy that you are going out of your way to help.


Do you have a Sponsor (someone at least 2 levels above you) at your company? A Sponsor is like a Mentor, except that a Mentor is outside the company. A Mentor you can tell the good, the bad and the ugly. The Sponsor you only tell the good. Your Sponsor is someone who is interested in finding the best talent in the company whom should someday be promoted to a position of greater responsibility.

Seeking advice regarding salary negotiations for vehicle wear and tear (In my current role we have fleet vehicles). The new offer 95k / 155k OTE (less in salary but better commission structure, uncapped based on performance). They are currently offering gas mileage which will not support vehicle maintenance. The role requires regional coverage from MA to northern NJ weekly. Anyone have experience in negotiating a vehicle maintenance package?
